wedding registry or no wedding registry?

Ive been with my fh for almost 10 years and lived together for about 7....everybody knows this....we already have our household established, we dont need anything for the home. Is anyone not having a registry for this reason?

Funny you should ask, I was just going to post about Honeymoon Registries. We have so much stuff, dont really need/want anything else. I did register at BBB for some things, but I would really like to do a honeymoon registry. I'm going to start a new thread and see what everyones feedback on that is.

are you sure there is NOTHING you would want? like an upgrade of some of the things you have?

china? nicer everyday plates? a new silverware set? maybe a set for the holidays or some interesting serving pieces for entertaining?

new bedding? new sheets? new towels? i feel like anyone can use new linens.

if not, you dont HAVE to register or you could look into a less traditional type of registry

This si true, is there anything you need? There is also a HM reg. if you think your BP or mom will throw you a shower. IMHO, no reg is a sure way to get a lot of gifts (with no receipt! ) that you may not want.
People anticipate you will have one, you could do a HM and register for china or small kitchen gadgets, new luggage. Anything really.

I'm in the same boat....so I plan on updating the stuff we already have, plus wanting the finer stuff (china & crystal). Also, on my wedding website under Registry, I put the logo for American Express cards, just in case someone would rather do that and also, FH and I want a few expensive items, that we are too embarrassed to register for.

we have lived together for 1 year already and will be 2 years once we get married - we have ALOT of things, but mostly it is extras of what FMIL and MOB were getting rid of or had extras so we have a little bit of everything - we are doing a full blown registry..

One of my coworkers got married at 52, it was her first wedding, and they lived together. She registered. People are going to get you stuff anyway, why not let them know what you want?

If there are soem thing you would like to upgrade, i would do a traditional registry because some people are just gift givers as opposed to $$ givers. We had several of those in our family. its not that they are cheap, simply that they are older folks who believe they should gve something tangible and they felt uncomfortable with giftcards.

You could do a HM registry and a smaller traditional gift registry to give people options.

we had lived together too for almost 5 years and when i walked in bbb i found a ton of thing to register for , like a nicer set of silverware and plates and a new bed set, there where a few untensel i didnt have.

but you can always do a honeymoon registry, honestly not my thing, but its an option

you can always do a registry of things you always wanted to upgrade.....nicer pots & pans.....new dishes....egyptian cotton sheets....formal china. etc

if that doesn't interest you---my suggestion....register at bed bath and beyond only. then when people ask about your registry, they can purchase items. then you can take every single item that was purchased from your registry.....and return it to BBB for straight cash. i know someone who did that---literally returned just about 90% of their shower items....and got cash for it all that went to the HM.

i know that some might say 'just do a HM registrY' but a lot of people don't like the idea of just putting money towards it....and not bringing a physical gift to a shower. people will end up wanting to buy you stuff anyway...you might as well just register!

Is there anything you want to upgrade? The FH and I have a co-op together so we have a lot of things already... but we put stuff on the registry that we would want to upgrade

i'd register for things you may need NEW or stuff you'd like. it doesnt have to be a huge list. that is what FH and i did.

well I know some people have honeymoon regestries where their guests put money towards their honeymoon. I believe Liberty Travel does this.

I would still register. What about a honeymoon registry instead?

We also are in the same boat but we did a BBB Registry so we could update things and new bedding and towels can always be used!!!

We also put a link for Home Dpeot or Lowe's gift cards, we figured that there is ALWAYS home repair or remodeling we want done.
