Wedding related -- Did you run into 'conflicts' with your seating plan?

I haven't even thought about it yet but I have heard bad things about it from FW..

How bad/good was your experience?

thanks!

so far it's been good. We did a preliminary one with every signle invited guests. We ended up with 6 people left over and not sure where to put ... but I'm sure we will have No's so we'll squeeze them in. I'm just having trouble with people that 'don't belong to another group' ... you know ... just individual friends that don't have a larger group to sit with. Hopefully it'll work out though.

My experience wasn't bad at all. DH and I sat together at a two-person table, thus avoiding the 'which family to sit with' controversy. We didn't have a large bridal party (just a MOH and Best Man) so that wasn't an issue, either. We made sure that each person at a table knew at least one other person at that same table.

Good luck!

I've always heard this is a pain, but we did ours in under 30 minutes. I guess it depends on whether you have any warring factions in your family or among your friends.

ours wasn't really a problem either. we just tried to keep people that were the same age together which pissed off one of dh's cousins but tough luck for her. silly us for thinking she'd want to sit with some other young hip new yorkers instead of her parents (she's like 25 too, fully capable of being away from the 'rents). i think it also helped that we could have 10-12 people at a table, in any combination. more flexibility is a good thing.

I didn't run into to many problems told my mom to do her people told mike moms to do her people and we did ours. Mike sister was mad at where some of her friends where seated so at the wedding she invited all of her friends to come and sit at her table she was in the bridal party... I was a little annoyed but o well..

We just started ours last night. Our friends tables and my family tables were pretty easy. I won't even bother trying to do my FIL's tables because I don't even know who half the people are. We did have some arguement over our bridal party tables (2). My FBIL's fiance doesn't get along with most people and many people have already told me that they don't want to sit with her. I came up with a seating arrangment that was fine. FBIL wanted to sit with some friends we had placed at the other table. FH went ahead and worked out a new arrangement which put my sister where she had specifically asked not to be. My sister said she didn't care and that she would just deal with it, but I'm still today pissed at my FH that he sits there and accomodates his brother, but my sister doesn't seem to matter. Not to be a biatch, though I'll probably sound like one, but my parents are paying for the wedding and FH and his family are/have been trying to run the show. It's just not fair.

One couple (my dad's cousin's son and wife, whom I'm close with) didn't really want to sit w/ my cousin and his wife. They didn't say that to me but I know they don't like them. Besides the cousins no one likes didn't reply until 4 days before the wedding so I figured I would sit them wherever (but not at the family table). This guy lives around the corner from my dad and never visits, never calls, nothing. I only invited them because my dad insisted for some strange reason.

Ours was a mess. His parents are newly divorced, and a nasty one at that, so he had to have two family tables. Then we invited children so we had to make sure that the parents were seated at tables close to the childrens' table.

It can become a headache, but if you start preparing for it early on, it's one you can avoid.

We had a little bit of a problem with DH side. It was my mistake letting my mother in law look at the table chart. Then she changed everything on me and pissed me off. Do it yourself it will save you a lot of agravation

So far ours is easy becausewe havea small group,so there isn't muchchoice ofwhere to put people.

Except my parents-- I divided their guests into 2 groups of 8 & told them to pick a table, but they can't decide. We may need to rearrange a little.
