Wedding Rings

Are the wedding rings (bride and groom) supposed to be made of the same material? I want my ring to be platinum (to match my e-ring) but my FI wants yellow gold for his. What do you think?

Re: Wedding Rings

ours will not be matching.
noone says you HAVE to do anything.
as far as tradition goes, i'm not really sure that there is anything written about that either.
don't worry.
i'm getting white gold (even though my e-ring is platinum) because the diamonds show off better in white gold...(or so i am told)
FH is getting something a heck of alot simpler.

Re: Wedding Rings

I don't think it matters. I am getting Platinum to match my e-ring and FH decided on white gold for his band.

Re: Wedding Rings

My band is going to be platinum and diamond, my e-ring (which was my grandmother's) is white gold and FH's band is titanium.

Re: Wedding Rings

I'm not really concerned with the type of metal but more the color. I'm not sure how the bands will look together if one is platinum and the other is yellow gold. I'm trying to convince him to get white gold, but he doesn't like the idea.

Re: Wedding Rings

Our won't come close to matching.

His is platium.. with a channel set single quarter carat round diamond.

Mine is an gold ring set with diamonds spaced around it to make it an eternity ring.

Nothing says they have to match. Jim wanted something he'd feel confortable wearing since I keep saying he'll be wearing it for a lifetime. I wanted something I could wear with or without my engagement ring.
