Wedding Rings - Touchy subject
Maybe I took this wrong, but my fiance & I finally discussed wedding rings and where we should go to get them, well... I mentioned to him that I would like one that matches my engag. ring (with diamonds) and I think it was more than he expected and got a little attitude. I know its a technicallity, but aren't you supposed to buy each others rings (even though the money comes from the same spot). UGH!!! I guess I just needed to vent.

My fiance and I talked about it too. Except, we just kinda laughed about it. He said he wanted something plain (sports-type, I am sure you understand), so I said 'great, that's more money to spend on mine.' He realized then he didn't have much of a choice.

We actually bought ours without thinking about it. We were in St. Thomas/Aruba and found 2 rings we liked (and one that actually matched my engagement ring which I haven't seen since!) and we just bought them. Saved a lot of money too! We each paid for our own b/c they were around the same price.

I was planning on just a plain band for me so I would match my fi, but my he wanted me to have some diamonds. We ended up spending $90 for his plain band and about $500 for mine.

Caf73, when I told my fiance about my wedding band he didn't take it so well either. He thought he bought the engagement ring and that's it. Well my wedding band I also want in diamonds to match my ring and he was a little annoyed also. My wedding is in June so he better hurry!

I guess I'm a bit spoiled and didn't even realize it. Pat is getting a plain platinum band, and i am getting a band that matches his AND one that matches my engagement ring. Your fiance will come around, I think, in time. Weddings are expensive and overwhelming to pay for. He just needs time for the wedding bands to sink in!

We did, but it does not matter *NM*

Rings, an after thought.....
My FI can't wear a ring while working and is not into jewelry to begin with. At first I considered diamonds to match my ring. But with all the expense of the wedding I decided that I'd rather just match his. So we will get two plain matching platinum bands, and I kinda hinted what a nice anniversay gift a diamond band will be in a couple of years!

Rings...
My fi and I will decide what we want and what we can afford and then go and buy the rings together. For all intents and purposes, my money is his and vice versa- so we will go together to buy our rings. I am thinking about getting an anniversary band to go with my solitaire engagement ring. The one I really like is over 500 dollars since it is princess cut- but the round ones are much cheaper so I will go with one of those unless we find a great sale.

My friend was married last year and they could not afford a wedding band that matched her engagement ring. So they bought plain bands to match and then for their one year anniversary, he surprised her with a diamond annivserary band. Now she wears the diamond band with her ring and the plain band on her other hand. (Just a suggestion - I know I want a matching band also)

Ladies: you might want to try this place
I searched high and low for a ring of a certain style. Once I found it, searched the web for different places and prices. William Barthman in NYC offers the ring I want for 1/3 less than the other stores! They will also send them out of state so you can save on the tax. I haven`t been in the store yet, but I have a feeling that they offer mostly diamond rings. Check out the site. http://www.williambarthman.com/ Good luck!

Maybe your fi and mine should go bowling. That was the exact wording he used too. It was too exact, your message caught me off guard when I was reading it. What are you expecting him to do, since you said he better hurry. I'm thinking of going to get my own.

You should go get it on your own if you can afford to!! I wish I could but since I can't I told him that it is his fault he bought me a ring that looked like this and it's only right that my wedding band matches! In the beginning I wanted a eternity band for like $2,300 and that really threw him off so we settled on just the diamonds on top for like $1,500. It's still alot but like I said it's the one that matches and I'm not going to settle for less! LOL

Wedding Rings - Touchy subject
I haven't read through all the responses since my computer is slow today, but here's my input: My fi and I decided that we'd splurge on the rings and nix the idea of getting each other wedding gifts. Keep in mind that if you're combining bank accounts, you're each paying for your own gifts anyway. We'd rather put the money into our (ok--MY!) bands. I also wanted a band with diamonds. The jeweler suggested doing it half way or 3/4 of the way around for now to save money -- and then getting the band changed in a few years to have the diamonds go all the way around. Definitely not a bad idea. But I have a feeling that it will actually end up costing less in the long run if we do it the way we want now rather than changing it later on. Plus, I'm a sap and like the idea of having my exact wedding band on the day he puts it on my finger. I mean, we're already in debt -- what's a little more????? Very bad attitude...I know.

The ring I plan on getting is going to cost in excess of $2000 but I said that`s what I want and if I have to pay for it myself I will. So what we are doing is buying the rings as soon as possible with our visa and paying as much as we can each month so that they will be paid off by the wedding (which is about 13 months away). If you have a year or more before the date it`s not a bad idea to finance your ring! Otherwise - guilt him into getting you the ring you want!

LISA ANNE!
Lisa Anne- Please! You`ve never bought anything that you didn`t have the money for and charged it to your credit card? Everybody has done that. As far as your comments, I think they were rude and unecessary. If don`t have anything nice to say, don`t say it at all. Your obviously new to this board and not accumstomed to the proper etiquette that should be used.

LISA ANNE!
Sounds to me like you are the defensive one. You think it hit her a little to close to home? Do you even know her? Why don`t you keep your nonsensical insults to yourself. No one here is interested.

When should I start looking for wedding rings
someone said they did it a year ahead. Just out of curiosity when do you ladies suggest that I do that? My wedding is 11/02. Thanks.

When should I start looking for wedding rings
We shopped in Feb and March for July. They only took a week because we got them at jewelers. Department stores (Fortunoff, etc.) will take longer. It is the kind of thing you could do pretty far in advance, so if you have the time, you might want to do it sooner rather than later.Welcome New Vendors
