hellish experience? you don't have high expectations, do you? lol. dress shopping can be a lot of fun! i recommend going with only one or two people, NOT an entourage of bridemaids or family members. i had a good shopping experience at fantatasia bridal in rocky point and the bridal suite of centereach (where i ended up getting my dres and my BM's dresses). i didn't care for david's bridal or macy's in my search. good luck in your search!

i got mine at Lestan's in Canarsie. I know there's alot of bad press about that place on here, but so far (keeping fingers crossed) i've had a great experience. I got my gown and 8 BM dresses on the same day, and the BMs didnt even have an appointment. my sister got her gown there for her wedding too and everything went great.

not to mention huge selection and cheap prices.

good luck!

I've been to a bunch of places and Paradise Bridal in Patchogue and Fantasia Bridal (I think that's the name) in Rocky point is where I've had the best experience. The staff was really sweet and even when my wedding was 2 years away they let me try on dresses. When I went to Fantasia I had no idea what I was looking for and the lady helped pick out very flattering dresses for me. At Paradise I had an idea in mind of what I wanted and the lady knew exactly what dresses to get for me and she stood within my budget.

I had the best experience at Lillette's. I highly recommend making your appointment with Stephanie - she was great.

I had the worst experience at Lynbrook Wedding Center. The place was a joke!

I had a good experience at Elissa's Bridal, in Brooklyn, across the street from Lestan's. I also had a good experience at RK bridal in Manhattan. I ultimately bought my dress from Bridal Elegance.

Good luck!!

Princess Bridal in Farmingdale has good prices but they're not very organized so you have to go there with a clear idea of what you want.

The Demetrios Salon in Manhasset is where I got my dress. I love Charmaine the manager but they're expensive.

I actually had a really good experience at Adrienne's. A lot of people on here didn't, but I didn't have one problem. At my wedding the bustle stayed up and they didn't even have to fix it when people walked on my dress. My dress came out perfect.

if you want to give david's a shot just to get an idea of what you like, the new lake grove store is pretty good - just go when it's not crowded.

Good experiences: Bayshore Bridal, Lilletes, Renates and Lidia's.

Not so great experience: Carmela's (i only had a half hour to try on dresses then I was cut off because another bride to be came in who had a 3k budget instead of my 'cheap' 1k budget. I felt I was pushed out since i was not spending that much)

Horrible Expreience: David's Bridal. (unless you want a white dress, maybe a little detail on a white dress then you can get a great bargain but service stinks!)

I went to 2 places and they were both terrific.

Priscilla of Boston (did not get my dress here)
I worked with Christine and she was so sweet. She really made my 1st dress shopping experience all that it should be.

The Wedding Salon of Manhasset (got my dress here)
I worked with Jordana and all of their staff were very nice. I will be going in today to visit and try on 'my dress' for the first time. Can't wait!

Paradise Bridal and Tuxedos in Patchogue are wonderful. That is where we are pretty much getting everything.

Read my review for how awful Adrienne's was to me!

I also worked with Stephanie at Lillette's- she was sooooo nice!!! I ultimately went with Bridal Elegance b/c they have better prices, but I thought Stephanie was great, I told her what style I wanted and she busy pulling dresses for me.

I also loved Paradise Bridal in Patchogue- it was a hike for me b/c I live in Queens, but it was worth it, they have a HUGE selection of dresses!!!

I also visited Macy's of Manhasset- they only carry Demetrios dresses- they seemed pretty good, but I know it also depends on who you work with- some are nicer than others there.

that isnt true at all. you can get gorgeous dresses at davids. the styles are alot better than they used to. if you look in my album, my oleg cassini gown to me, is more gorgeous than most and it was 800 bucks since there was a sale going on. the service in florida was awesome but yeah, it ***** in ny. so just get the dress and get the alterations done elsewhere. thats what im doing.

I had a good experience at Davind's in Lake Grove. But I am using Phyllis at Bridal Elegance for alterations.

I had a fine time. It was almost like playing dress-up. The thing to understand when going dress shopping is that they want to sell you a dress and the sales people will work their hardest to sell you a dress.

I got my dress at the first place I went to. I tried on 20 gowns and bought the last one I tried one. You know when you find the right one.

I got my gown at Bridal Reflection in Carle Place

Good Luck!
