What do you guys think of Alicia Keyes If I ain't got you song for a first dance? FH suggested it because it was a big hit when we first moved in together and how much we loved it... But I can see my mom frowning because the song isn't proper english.

Go for it!!! I want to walk down the aisle to Snow Patrol...but we were raised on classical music (except in our own bedrooms!!!) and I know my parents will probably not be happy...

I love that song. I would think your mom would be too caught up in the moment of watching her daughter's first dance to be too upset over grammer.

If the song means that much to you and FH, go for it!! Mom probably won't even be paying attention to the lyrics-- she'll be focused on how happy you are!

That is going to be my wedding song! It is such a beautiful song and it fits our relationship so well. At first when I would tell people that are not familiar with Alicia Keys the name of our song, I would cringe because it sounded like terrible English. But now I realized that I don't care what others think. We both love the song and it will be our song. Good thing I am not an English teacher, right?

Thanks guys for all your feedback. I think its a beautiful song. I like that its also sort of contemporary. My mom can be a bit hard to deal with but I'll have to overrule her on this one!!!
