Wedding Talk

Wedding Talk

Is it just me but do you find it annoying that since you got engaged all people talk to you is about your wedding. I have alot more to say than just wedding related topics.

Don't get me wrong I'm super excited about my upcoming wedding, but I also have a life outside of being engaged and planning a wedding.

I know everyone is just expressing their happiness for me(us) but would it be rude to say to them 'I don't want to talk about the wedding all the time'???

I agree-but also what gets me is that when you really have something to say about the wedding they act like it is all you talk about.

Yes, I do believe that will be rude. IMHO they are just happy for you. I am sure it is good that people are showing interest in your wedding than they if they were not.

i totally agree, i was at a function last weekend with my family and all of their friends, and all everyone kept coming up to me to ask was how wedding plans were coming along....lol i love talking about weddin gplans, but it was getting frustrating.. i was like, what did we ever talk about before i got engaged...lol

Yes they did...constantly! I always felt a little awkward for some reason. Like we'd be at someone's b-day party and our wedding was topic of conversation. I'd try and dodge the questions or change the subject to the reason we were all together...so and so's b-day.
Ugh..and then everytime I'd pass someone in the office I'd hear...'How many days?'

I kind of miss it...

Re: Wedding Talk

Yeah its like I am soo overly happy about the wedding, but I guess the wedding talk its very surface polite wedding talk its not like when I'm on LIW or talking to my girlfriends, or Mom, where we get into details and they are involved in the process.

The talk that I'm getting annoyed at is just like being asked the same question 10 times by 10 different people( I know its not their fault, they don't know I just answered the same question over, and over , and over again.

But I gues what is really bothering me is that their are alot of women (especailly the older women) who seem to act if my life began the day I got engaged.

At one family get together a distant relative of my FMIL was shocked to hear I was actually 32 and not Married. She even asked my FMIL if that was true!!

Oh well...

I find that FH and I are introduced that way wherever we go - This is Liza & Angelo - they are getting married!

And then, of COURSE it needs to be talked about, because no one would just ignore that - they say - oh really, so when, where, how, who, etc...

ARGH! I don't even like talking about it that much - it gets me tired!!!
