Wedding Thank you cards?

I know this may be a stupid question. But What are some things you wrote in your Thank you's?

IDK why iam stuck!! Is it supposed to be really long? Iam driving myself crazy. My mom keeps saying you better write something nice! How do you properly thank someone for money as their gift??

Thanks ladies

Does this sound stupid??

Thank you for coming to the wedding and for giving such a generous gift as well. Your presence at the wedding made it that much more of a special celebration. We are saving your gift for a down payment on a house. You are both such dear and thoughtful friends. Thanks again.

this sounds good!!! i dont think you need to tell them what youre doing with their gift/money. but it is nice to know it's going towards building your future together with a home

i think i'm just going to do a simple: 'thank you so much for coming to our wedding! it means a lot to us that you were there and gave such a generous gift.' or something like that.

it will prob get shorter by the 70th thank you

i agree.. i don't think you need to let them know what you are using the money for...but i think a simple thank you for sharing our day with us and your generous gift...etc. is fine!!
And you can always add anything special you'd like to say to them... or just leave it at that.

That sounds pretty similar to what I've been writing. I've read that it's good etiquette to tell them how you're using the money so I've been writing it. Even though anyone from LI should know that's what it's going to.

Re: Wedding Thank you cards?

Here is what I finally wound up writing. I didnt like putting what the money is being used for. Even though thats what the ettiquette said to do.

Dear____________,

Thank You so much for coming to our wedding and for your generous gift. It means so much to us that you were there to share our special day. I hope that you had as much fun as we did!

We hope to see you soon!!

Love,
Bride and Groom

For people who didnt attend but gave a gift I wrote.

Dear__________,

Thank you so much for your generous gift. We are sorry you were unable to attend the wedding. You were surely missed! I cant wait to show you our pictures from that day!

We hope to see you soon!

Love,
Bride and Groom

Hope this helps anyone else that was stuck like me!! Also I changed up the card if they were in the bridal party or did something for the wedding. I made it more personal.. Also if a guest traveled a long distance I included that in the Thank you as well.

Thanks Again for helping me out ladies!!
