We went to a wedding on July 11, and still haven't receved a thank you yet. I was wondering when we were going to get one, if at all. It's been almonst 7 weeks.
What is the standard for sending out the thank you cards?

This is one of life's great questions. Believe it or not, we got one about 2 weeks ago from a wedding we went to on May 27th. 2003. And it was only addressed to and made out to FH. RUDE RUDE RUDE.
In my family, you must send out a thank you immediately. Other people don't abide by these same rules.

As I said in the shower thank you post, I am anal but with our wedding TY's, we had to wait to get our proofs back, then wait for the TY's to be made so I think it was maybe 2 months before I got mine out and believe me, it was killing me!!

I just got married on July 5th and I haven't even gotten close to getting the cards. I got my proofs the week we got back from the honeymoon. They told us to pick out our ablum and TY pics and call them to set an appointment up for design. Well the next appointment they could give us is Sept 18th and the TY's take 3 weeks to make. So once that order is in I will find cards and start filling them out!
Hey it could be worse! We are still waiting for a thank you from my aunts wedding which was June 6, 1988!

Why do you expect one so soon?
We rushed and got the picture proof back as soon as we could (we even wrote the cards on the honeymoon). And with the straggler gifts it was tough to keep track of some things.
It took 2 months and people said it was 'lightening fast!'
I think you'll probably extend the time to get a thank you when your wedding's over and your hand hurts from writing them out! just kidding.
People techically have up to a year...

I am just wondering what the standard was. A year for a thank you, that seems a bit ridiculous, no? But I guess it takes a while if you are having photo cards done.

Mine went out about 3 -3 1/2 months after the wedding. It's not easy writing 130 original notes
If you do want to get them out sooner, just pick your TY pic and have the photographer work on that. In the beginning I was trying to do it all (pick album, TY, etc) and then just said forget it - I'll just do the TY.
Now DH and I can leisurely pick out our albums

I read that you are allowed up to six months to send out thank you notes (your guests are allowed up to one year from the wedding to give you gifts, so figure out the thank you notes on that one). I've been trying to send thank yous out as soon as we have received the gifts, but I'm behind right now due to creativity block in writing original messages. I am going to finish up the thank yous this weekend--13 more to write.
