I need help cinching in my waist for my gown. Is there a particular undergarment that would be helpful?
One friend suggested a corset but I've been to a few lingerie shops over the weekend and didn't find one. I'd love to find somthing in a Manhattan shop that also had a built in bra.

Re: wedding undergarments?
I would suggest the seamless long line bra from David's Bridal (about $50?) or a corset bra from Fredericks of Hollywood (about $60-80). The corsets from Freddie's are nice because they button up like a bra on the side, but they have the lace up backs so you can cinch in just where you need.

Did you try Blums. They have a decent selection of under garments. There are 2 out on the island. Patchogue and Bay Shore.

Definately go to BraTenders. Not only will you find what you're looking for, but they will fit you and you'll get awesome customer service. They work by appointments, but I was able to get an appt. for the same day I called. Go to their website. Lots of nice stuff and at reasonable prices. I will be going back there for regular bras as well. That is how much I liked them.

Yes. They are down the block from me and very, very helpful. It's nice to go to a place where they know exactly what they are doing.

Re: wedding undergarments?
I was notified by someone that victorias secret and frederick's corsets are 'recreational' (in other words, they are not built for actual functional corset purposes).
I bought a long line bra from wacoal in macy's and it works pretty well.... but it wasn't sufficient for my purposes, and pushed my boobs out too far
I have given up on the whole corset thing

You can try the Body by Victoria line--they have a corset bra that is great and has no boning to stick you in the front.
