Wedding Vent
Okay ladies, Im not one for venting.. But Im so upset I could just start crying at work right now.Last night FH and I got into a fight because his dad called and wanted to know how guests staying at the hotel are getting to the RH (unfortunately, they don't provide shuttle service) We aren't renting a bus for this because we don't know how many people are actually staying and really the hotel is RIGHT ACROSS the street from RH.. Like you can see it from both directions. We are having a bus shuttle people back and forth at the end of the wedding but they are on their own to get there... FH wants to add a bus or a limo now for this reason.. Im not even joking in any way when I say we just cant afford it ... I have already cut stuff out that I wanted and I feel like we just cant add this. Anyway, the fight was ridiculous and we havent really spoken since then, which I hate.. Am I being totally wrong here to think that guests need to find their own way to the wedding? A cab would be less than 5 dollar and they can even walk it! I have gotten myself to weddings in NJ and SI and nobody offered me anything! Am I being irrational?
Sorry this is so long, Im just really upset

Re: Wedding Vent
I completely agree with you!!!I am sick of spending my budget and time figuring out things for other people!
We had this same discussion about valet parking and honestly people can walk the 3 minutes from the lot to the entrance and if they can't (a few old people) then they can get dropped off! Somehow they manage in the rest of their lives and I am not shelling out extra $$$ for this.
Maybe you can arrange for other relatives who are staying at the hotel to drive car pool across the street together?

Re: Wedding Vent
aww gabbie i'm so sorry you guys are fighting over this.
If the hotel is within a walking distance to the RH I would not provide transportation because it would cost you a lot more then if people cabbed it. Why don't you suggest paying for people's cabs this way you save money and the guests will be happy. They can even go in a cab together. I'm sure you guys will work it out

thanks!
Well FFIL asked how they would get there because his wife's (whom I really love) brother and nnephews (all over 21) are staying there. But is it rude that I would expect them to take a cab over to the RH? I mean Im not trying to be mean but I have more important things to stress about than to worry about how people will get to my wedding. I never bother couples with this stuff when I am invited to a wedding. I just figure it out!

Re: Wedding Vent
Sorry you are going through this. I don't think you're being irrational at all. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that brides and grooms providing transportation for guests has been a newer thing to do the past few years. Growing up I went to tons of weddings with my family out of state and no one ever provided transportation for us. If you rsvp yes, it's up to you to get there and back. Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe it opened a can of worms by letting them know you were providing a shuttle after the reception?? Maybe if there was no shuttle at the end they wouldn't expect it in the beginning. It's a nice thing for you to do but people take things forgranted. Did his dad offer to help pay for a the shuttle to the reception before he complained?

Re: Wedding Vent
as of right now, my guests will have to get to the hall on their own if staying at the hotel... im not paying for every little thing... but in my case, they would be staying overnight the night before, not after so theres no hotel to return to at the end of the wedding

the only reason that we are getting a shuttle after is because we are having the after party at this hotel so we got it for that mainly and then guests that are staying at the hotel will be able to get on that bus (even though they arent going to the after party)

You are not being irrational at all! Don't be silly! People will have to just deal with it! If you can't afford it, you can't afford it! Your FH should understand that. You are doing a nice gesture by giving your guests a ride back and that's way more than a lot of other weddings do!

ITA. i have been to a few OOT weddings and we had to find our own way to the wedding. its not the bride and groom's responsibility to do EVERYTHING!

Re: Wedding Vent
You do not need to provice that transportation . I think you can just have an information card that says walking directions and cab service numbers. . . I have gone to a lot of weddings and always figured out trasnport on my own. .. and just keep breathing. . you and FH will be fine. ..

Re: Wedding Vent
I agree an information card on how they can get from the hotel ot the reception is sufficient enough!! You are totally right about this!!

Re: Wedding Vent
If it's a matter of guests wanting to drink and not have to drive, they can just drive to the RH and leave their cars there and take the shuttle back to the hotel and pick up their cars the next morning. I wouldn't stress about it. Besides, FH and I decided to provide transportation since our reception is 10 miles from the hotel and we didn't think that over a 100 people were planning on staying at the hotel. I just had to get another 55 passenger coach bus on top of the one we already booked so altogether the transportation is costing us over $2,000 and we don't even have limos!!

omg! That is insane! I just cant justify that kind of money for only 4-6 extra people (that isnt even my family)

Re: Wedding Vent
I'm sorry you guys are fighting. IMHO, I dont think you need to provide transportation being that the RH is right across the street. I think it would be totally different ballgame, if the RH was lets say 1hr away. I hope you guys are able to resolve this.Welcome New Vendors
