We just got engaged! (ahhh!) and have started to look at some possible wedding venues.
Are there any venues that you would recommend over another? We are looking at Nassau County and border of Suffolk.
Also, anyone have any photo booth company recommendations?
Thanks!!!

Congrats and welcome!
I didnt look at many venues in person in LI but I am booked at the Swan Club. Fell in love with the beautiful gardens.
When you start looking into your vendors like photo and DJ some companys offer photobooths so u may want to look into that when u start your photo and DJ (if your having 1) search. 1 company though is Incredibooths. They were at TWOTY and it was a lot of fun!

What are you looking for in a RH? Such as size, feel, etc.?

Congratulations and welcome to the 2013 boards!!!!
I think you should start looking at different RH halls online to get an idea of what type of RH you want. Then you can start calling them to see if they are in your price range then set up appointments to go visit. You don't want to fall in love with a RH only to find out it is over your budget.
I'm not sure about photo booths.
Good luck! The ladies on here are very helpful.

Congrats on getting engaged!!! Welcome to 2013
I would check Crest Hollow - they have some larger rooms that hold 250+ people. The Inn at New Hyde Park has a larger room too (holds 400), but is on the more expensive side. HTH! Good Luck in your search - it's a lot of fun!
We're using the Modern PhotoBooth for our wedding. The booth is so awesome and holds up to 20 people in it. I thought they were decently priced also - we used a 20% off coupon.

They are all really nice, I saw all of them except Chateau La Mer. My favorite obviously was Sand Castle lol but everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Sand Castles ballroom holds up to 450 I think, and they hold only 1 wedding at a time which I liked. Just keep an open mind when you are looking, when you find your place you'll get that happy feeling. If you have any questions feel free to FM me

Re: Wedding Venues & PhotoBooth
Hey-- I agree with Sabellabride as I am too booked at SANDCASTLE. Honestly it really depends on what you are looking for and how many people will be attending. For example SC holds over 400 people so if you have a small wedding of 150 the ballroom may look too big and the party may look empty. Also the SC is exclusive to only 1 wedding/event per evening so its a little more intimate in that sense. Also i am not fond of rugs and SC is all marble and NO rugs at all within the facility so that was a major PLUS for us! Finding a cocktail hour where everyone has a chair is something to also consider. You dont want people to eat standing up which I have done at many weddings (annoys me).
Photobooth i would check with your dj company first. Most PB range from 600-1500 depending on the company and extra ammenities but you can find some dj company's that will add that to your package and in turn can save you some money.
Start shopping for halls soon as most are already booked for the 2013 year believe it or not!
I am obviously impartial to the sandcastle as well, aside from the decor, food, size and that its only one wedding at a time the people there are awesome. When I went to the tasting last week even the footman Gary remembered me by name. The team they have there is so efficient and watching them in action.last week further solidified our decision. Loula my BM and Mohammad are great, keep us posted, congrats and good luck.

Re: Wedding Venues & PhotoBooth
I couldnt agree with you more staceface. At my tasting they went above and beyond. It was the dot (.) over the i basically and we booked right then and there! I have been to many weddings also at FH and JT and Chateu and I wanted to do something different and have it a different place. The ballroom, revolving dais, food, private bride and groom room and the tree Centerpieces all did it for me!
Good Luck again! Let us know if you go to Sandcastle. Would love to know what your thoughts on it are?

Re: Wedding Venues & PhotoBooth
Just looked at 4 places today... and absolutely LOVED Sandcastle!
Right now it's between Sandcastle and Chateau Briand... we are looking at Bridgeview and Westbury Manor this week...
We saw Chateau La Mer, Venetian Yacht Club, Jericho Terrace... lovely places but we are having around 300 guests and it looked tight.
Loved that it's only one wedding, the outdoor area, the boat, martinki bar..... Loula was so nice!
Any other thoughts on those venues?
Thanks ladies!!!!!

That is so exciting!! I fell in love with the Sand Castle the moment I walked inside! And it comes with the hospitality hour and venetian hour which you won't find anywhere else!! Did you like the tree centerpieces?

Re: Wedding Venues & PhotoBooth
I did like the centerpieces but I don't like that the flowers are fake (or silk). I really want fresh flowers, so I either might call and see what they can do.. or do a different centerpiece. I have a lot of time and we haven't booked it yet...
