I'm thinking of forgoing a wedding video. FH wants it (capture memories, see things we never knew happened, yada, yada, yada). I just feel this is a waste of money. Plus, I feel like most people feel pressured into saying something and it ends up looking so forced. Thoughts/suggestions???

Re: Wedding Video
I just posed on the newlywed board this same thing. If anyone didn't have one and regrets it. I don't know if its in my budget.

Re: Wedding Video
FH thought the same way you did at first. But we decided to have a video. We found someone who is non-intrusive and does amazing work. We want something to look back on and watch later on in our life. We want to be able to re-live our wedding day while watching.

Re: Wedding Video
We decided to right before our wedding & are both SO glad we did...even though we were both against it at first.
You can find an inexpensive videographer like $800-1200 range for really nice quality, or even less for the ceremony only, or maybe you could find someone to film and not edit it.

Re: Wedding Video
my friends didnt have a videographer and they regret it so much. i would squeeze it into the budget. just dont go for the top videographer and you'll be fine
ETA: I always hate when the videographer tries to interview me. DH and I actually ran away from one at a wedding this weekend.
Instead of running away, all you have to say is no thanks...
Video is awesome and DW and I had a chance to take it a step further by being on TV
we loved every moment being on TV and have watched our wedding video many of times...

Re: Wedding Video
We weren't going to, but decided to go for it last minute but told the videographer no taping while people are eating, NO interviews unless the GUEST approaches HIM and basically I don't want to know he's there. I told him I'd rather have him be at a distance and DON'T get in the photogrpaher's way, just capture it from afar. My sister didn't get one and regrets it.

Re: Wedding Video
Do whatever you can to work it into the budget. Maybe I'm just addicted to memories but even if it is something you watch every couple of years it is the truest way of getting the day and feelings of that day back. To be able to hear your voices say 'I do' after the moment is over is something I know I couldn't give up...even if you have a friend or family member make the video.

its a memory to last forever, sometimes longer than a pic,,

Ladies thank you so much for responding. You have touched upon some things I have not thought of. I got teary eyed with 'being able to hear your voices say I do'. Thanks for that Valor06. My FH is sending you a big hug. More thoughts.....

Re: Wedding Video
there are all types of videos you can get. we are getting a video where the videographer is a fly on the wall...i want him to just capture the day. we are not having him walk around with a mic

Re: Wedding Video
It was not in my budget either but my MOH said I should really think about it (I might regret it if i don't) well when I went to my photographer/videographer and watched there video (as i was tearing and thought that if we had children someday i would want to show them) i fell IN LOVE with there video and booked it! sooooo happy I did!!

Re: Wedding Video
Please try and make room for it.....
There is something so touching about being able to see yourself walk through those doors and down the aisle. And then the look on your FH's face, it's just priceless. Your whole day is a blur, but watching this video captures things that you may never have known happened.
