Wedding woe

Wedding woe

I have just experienced my first episode of wedding drama. My MOH (my sister) and I have been lookinf of BM dresses for about a month now. I have been going back and forth with color and style. I am doing my best to accomodate my 6 bridesmaids. Yesterday I took four of them to be sized for the dress that my MOH and I had chosen, and I hated it. Turns out, I found a new dress that I adore. Its an Alexia gown style number 2928. SO... I called my MOH to tell her that I have changed the dress and she went crazy. Started yelling at me to stop changing my mind, and that she is tired of trying dresses on . And she had her heart set on the last dress that she tried on, and that I should be tailoring the dress to her since she is on the hippier side. Am I crazy or is she nuts. She started calling me a bridezilla. I will admit, i started to cry. I have been doing my best to make EVERYONE happy. I told her that I have never planned a wedding before and that I may change my mind several times for numerous things. Thats what planning is for. Ah! Please tell me I am not crazy =(:::::

Sorry you're going through this. You're doing your best to accomodate them and they're not helping. Just pick whatever you want, dont worry about their opinions. Its your wedding!

You're not crazy and she's not nuts. She was wrong to take it out on you. Stick to your guns, just be nice about it! It IS your wedding!

I've seen this happen sooo many times. No, your NOT crazy, and she's not nuts... people are just picky.LOL. I personally just had my MOHs pick the dresses out that they liked...3 total...then brought my BMs to look at them, and they all liked the same ones. It's rather simple and plain than what I wanted, but I figure they are buying them and wearing them, so they should be able to decide. Do your BMs like any that your MOH likes?

Re: Wedding woe

Thanks brides. I really want everyone to be happy . I just dont think yelling and being nasty is the way for my MOH to go about it. I agree , I want her to look and feel good that day. I just dont appreciate the negativity

Re: Wedding woe

she sounds like the Zilla not you. Is it possible for the MOH to wear a different dress than the BMs? I'm having my MOH in a different dress but same color as the BMs bc she's a bit hippier and felt comfortable in a different dress.

Re: Wedding woe

Sure! That is what I told her. I gave her three options plus I told her really she could wear whatever she wants. I am not so upset with that. It was the attitute and the behavior that I thought was unwarrented,

Re: Wedding woe

no you are not crazy! don't let her make all of your decisions... if she is that passionate about it, would you consider letting her wear the one she likes and have the other girls wear the one you like? it would make sense b/c she is the MOH...

Re: Wedding woe

Is it possible that her reaction stemmed more from her being upset that she wasn't there and therefore missed out on having input on the dress switch? Sounds to me like she may be upset that she wasn't involved. Not that she was intentionally left out. Seems like you guys picked the dress, the girls went to get sized and she wasn't able or expected to attend but not excluded, and you came across something else. I would be upset if I was her and if I was you and got that response. Did she get to try on the new dress?

I have been in 7 weddings, never was asked what dress did I want to wear. I think it causes too much drama, there is no way everyone will agree. Just pick a dress and go with it.

You are totally not crazy! It's your wedding and what you pick goes. You know, I think we get more crap for trying to acommodate everyone. I'm pretty much letting my girls give me their selections and then ultimately I will make the final decision and choose the color, but I gotta tell you, I think I would have been better off to say 'this is what you are wearing, if you don't like it don't be in the bridal party' I think you gotta get a little bridezilla on them, lol. Don't worry, they will have a wedding of their own one day and they can pick the dress that they want for their girls, but this is your wedding and you get to choose

Re: Wedding woe

You are not crazy at all. My FSIL and I were just talking today about how weddings bring out both the best and worst in people!

Is there anyway to have your MOH wear the original dress and the other girls the new one? Not sure if you can do the same color of if you want them all in the same dress. In the end it is your decision because it is your wedding. Unfortunately you can not make everyone happy but you should make yourself happy because it's your day!
