Wedding World vs Booking Seperate -It's long!!

Hi ladies,

I REALLY need your help here in trying to figure out if I should book a package with Helen's Wedding World.

They quoted me $5,950 for the follow items:

Photographer - 1 Couple Album, 2 Parents Albums, Proofs, DVD of Images for Reprinting, Some Larger prints, small wallet size - Does not recommend a photo assistant

Videogroaher - 3 DVDs

Limos - 1 Rolls Royce, 2 10-passenger Limos and 1 6-passenger for the Parents

Invites - 125 qt
STDs - 125 qt

My hesitation is the fact that my cousins all have used them for everything including flowers. I am using Flower Michele already but the PHOTO is my concern. I know my cousin who just used them even though she wont admit it, I dont think she likes her photos. I want amazing photos!!! Photo Journalist style and I dont know if they can do that....

How much is a typical photography package or video package???
I met with Royalty limos so I have an idea of limo prices.

Please HELP ME!! My question is 'Is it worth the deal at Wedding World?'

TIA!!!

Hi,

I've never been to wedding world, but my opinion is that if you really want good pictures you should shop around and hire a good photographer.

Some excellent photographers with reasonable prices and good packages are:

Thomas Paul
Velvet Studios
Dan Wagner
Duet

And I just heard of an excellent photographer who does great photojournalistic work her name is Shira Z. FM me if you want more info. Good luck.

Photos are very important IMO and if you arn't in love with what they are showing you, go elsewhere. You may have to sacrifice the albums to get it in your budget, but you can always make those online yourself. For limos and the video, they may have a good deal for you. But don't cut back on your pictures! Visit www.wpja.com. They list wedding photojournalists in the area and give you their price range. Im sure you can find someone on there for under 3k who you would be happy with! And I'll give a shout out to my photographer, Andreas Rentsch, who i was very happy with!

The following Phoogrpahers are listed as having starting prices under 3k. Im sure what you get from each will vary, but this may be a good place to start!

Jeffrey Lau
Merri Cyr
David Myles Stam
Harvey Manger-Weil
AlexZ Photogrpahy
Geoffrey Tischman
Chris Ware.

here is a link to the site.

Im using George from Right Angle for both video and photog his work is amazing!!!

The wedding world deal sounds like a good deal but you maybe sacrificing the quality you are looking for. That was my concern when looking for package deals so FH and I decides against it and still stayed with in our budget HTH

Was it digital photography? My sister went with Wedding World and she got a film photographer who had a set limit on how many pictures he would take. If she wanted more photos, she had to pay extra. He was also very traditional and her wedding album is like any other wedding album you've ever seen.

I personally wouldn't try to save on the photog. Don't go out of your price range, but definitely go with an independent if you can afford it.

JMO all in one packages makes me a little concern about quality. I think you should definately shop around. Just because quantity wise you are getting alot for your $$$ you should not compromise quality especially for photos.

Some photo & video recommendations
Erica lyn Photography
Gail Chatelain
Laura Ryan Photograhy
Yang Photo

Orange Films NY
Wild Rose Video

The other photographer mention in other post do great work also.

My thoughts....

If it's too good to be true, it probably is!

I've been to weddings where they used a package, and it just felt like it wasn't personalized enough. Friends had trouble getting in touch w/ vendors bc they had to go through the middle-man.

JMHO!

We used a package through our RH. We had no problems with dealing with them. We dealt directly with the vendors.
Talk to them about upgrading or adding another photographer.
I know with my package I could take out what I didnt want (and lessen the cost), maybe you can do that (go with a diff photog)?

book separate--you'll wind up getting a better deal...trust me!

i booked an all inclusive deal like that -- and then shopped around and relized i could get better quality if i did research--and ended up cancelling my package with the place. many times there are hidden fees for things--like the invites--we were able to get invites in our package--but it turned out the ones they included were horrible and terrible quality--we had to pay extra for them! just look around--you'll find something.
