Weddings And houses

Weddings And houses

Is anyone able to actually to plan a wedding and buy a house at the same time???? Craziness!! FH and I had an approved offer on a home back in May, but we ended up losing the house for one reason or another. We were so upset, but looking back, thank goodness it fell through because we would've been struggling!!!!

It is crazy. I own a co-op that we need to sell before we can start looking at houses. But, I'm happy to say, we just got a buyer for it and are in contract, so once we close on the co-op, we'll start looking at houses - which will be about a month before the wedding. I know we're going to be anxious to find a house, but there will so much going on with the wedding, I think we may wind up waiting until after.

We moved in and renovated our condo while planning the wedding, and let me tell you it was soo time consuming! I got slightly depressed bc I never had time to do anything for myself, it was just wedding and condo. I feel much better now bc all the big planning and renovations are done, but boy that was rough!

dh proposed the day we closed on our house and we had just put all our savings for the downpayment. And to add to the stress, our house needed tons of renovations.

def stressful and we stopped renovating the house but now we are getting back to it. it was hard but worth it IMO because DH and I both worked sooo hard to get the house than worked so hard for the wedding. it was kind of going thru a painful process but all in one shot if that makes sense

our wedding was a couple weeks ago, and we closed on our house a few months before that. the process was physically and emotionally exhausting - lots of highs and lows. the wedding took a backseat at times, but in the end, we had an amazing wedding and now we have a house we love. i'm planning on moving down (atlanta, GA!!!) in a couple of weeks. i thought wedding/house buying was stressful - that's nothing compared to packing up 15+ years worth of belongings!!!

good luck with your house! :)

We are hoping to buy after our wedding, but if the opportunity comes up before, then we'll just juggle everything and make it work

Yes FH and bought a condo last month. It has definitly taken some of the focus off the wedding and we're spending a bit more but we're paying about the same amount we would if we rented (minus the down payment!)

If you ever need advice let me know! FH is a mortgage broker and works for a real estate attorney. He's very goood in helping people figure out what they can/can't afford. Much different than what you go off of on a pre approval.

We closed on our house this past Nov. and are planning a wedding for next year. It's hard saying up money and having to pay the mortgage and whatever else you need for the house. We try to put money aside each paycheck and then something else comes up. It's hard but I'm determined to save enough for this wedding without tapping into the savings, just gotts cross my fingers

This gives me such anxiety. FH and I will be house hunting after the wedding. Hoping to use the money we receive as wedding gifts to put toward a down payment. We just don't have that extra money right now for a down payment on a home

Re: Weddings And houses

we are closing on friday and then paying for the whole wedding in October. It was pretty stressful saving all the money but in the long run it is what we wanted :)
