Have you ever attended a wedding outside of New York? I was wondering what your experience was! What did you find to be really different? They don't quite do it the same way...

Re: Weddings not in NY
I am going to one in Rhode Island on Sat, so I will let you know. The groom and his family are from Brooklyn, NY. She is from Rhode Island but lives here in NY. Will get back to you.

I must say things must be very different. For my engagement party, relative who came form NC and MD were quite surprise. One of my aunt said she would arrange the flowers for the wedding and reception . They didn't even realize that people gave gifts. We will see what happens with the wedding.

i went to one in pennsylvania last year-- it was interesting. the CH was ONE plate of cheese and crackers (and we were starving) so that was rough-- and then the reception-- you ate everything first before they even danced-- so they intro'd the bride/groom and BP and then they just pulled the plug on the music after their first dance-- usually, that's when people get excited to start dancing-- but they just stopped it and everyone sat for over an hour and ate dinner-- which was OK b/c at least we got food, the food was OK (it was at a hotel so luckily that made it a little better) and then we danced-- but it wasn't enough food, we were hungry when we got back to the room and had room service
the DJ played the chicken dance and i'm not even kidding

here's my question: do people that live out of state know how it is here? are they aware of the way we do weddings? b/c i was talking to the bride that night about some of our wedding plans and she looked SHOCKED...

I agree with you donegal 419 we are the silly ones paying all this money! Someone needs to change it up a bit... One of the brides had a great idea with a cocktail hour only then just party and dance all night!
