*~*~*~ WEDNESDAY QOTD ~*~*~*

What was or is your 1st dance/Wedding song? AND - did it have special meaning - why did you choose that song as your wedding song?

Ours was Kenny Chesney's 'You Had Me From Hello' - this song - the lyrics in particular hit home w/ our situation. My DH was married once before & got burned so badly that he SWORE (even up until about a month before we got engaged) that he would never get married again - he would never let his heart open to that kind of vulnerability again - which is why when did finally propose I was in SHOCK! & when I heard this song by Kenny Chesney I knew that was 'our song' & DH totally agreed...

'One word, that's all you said
Somethin' in your voice caused me to turn my head.
Your smile, just captured me
And you were in my future as far as I could see
And I don't know how it happened, but it happened still
You asked me if I love you, if I always will

Well you had me from 'Hello'
I felt love start to grow
The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me
It was over from the start
You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had a chance you know
You had me from 'Hello'

Inside, I built a wall
So high around my heart, I thought I'd never fall
One touch, you brought it down
The bricks of my defenses scattered on the ground
And I swore to me I wasn't gonna love again
The last time was the last time I let someone in

But you had me from 'Hello'
I felt love start to grow
The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me
It was over from the start
You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had a chance you know
You had me from 'Hello'

That's all you said
Somethin' in your voice caused me to turn my head
You had me from 'Hello'
You had me from 'Hello'
Girl I've loved you from 'Hello'

I just posted this a few days ago:

FH and I were having the hardest time deciding on a first dance song!

We finally picked Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson

It's so us...which makes it PERFECT

We dated for a little over 4 years before we got engaged and had a long distance relationship for 2.5 of them, so waking up in the same bed was really special for us. He even proposed in bed (it was soooo perfect - I just got teary typing this out).. so if you know the words to this song you can understand why it's so fitting!

Now I just need to figure out how to dance to it. The beat is not quite slow, and not quite fast

ahhhh I'm so happy

We chose Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want to Miss A Thing.' We wanted a song that was modern but classic enough that we know 15 years from now, 30 years from now, you will still hear it. We love classic rock and the movie Armageddon and most importantly the words are very sweet and mean something since we are away from each other at least 3 days a week.

Plus it is even cooler because I met Steven Tyler about 8 years ago, in Hawaii, at the hotel next door to the one we stayed at on our honeymoon.

We chose 'let's call the whole thing off' which was perfect for us bc it's all about arguing over silly little things. . or just having opinions but being so perfect for each other and in love. . plus it's a song from an old musical movie which we also love . .perfect mix of sweet, funny, and fun. . it's the one that goes

you say potato
I say po-tah-toe
You say tomato
I say toe- mah-toe

We are using Don Henley's Taking You Home.

The words are so perfect for us - the first verse is:

I had a good life before you came.
I had my friends and my freedom, I had my name.
Still there was sorrow and emptiness till you made me glad - in this love I found a strength I never knew I had.

The second verse:

There were days lonely days when the world wouldn't throw me a crumb, but I kept on believing that this day would come.

And this love is like nothing I have ever known
Take my hand love Im taking you home
Im taking you home
Where we can be with the ones who really care.
Home, where we can grow together. Keep you in, my heart forever

It's so appropriate for us because we are older and lived full lives before we met but we were always missing each other!

He was there with his other children Chelsea and Taj. It was so strange because he was waterskiing them around on his knees and playing shark and mermaid in the pool, like my dad used to do with me. We talked on the breakfast buffet line waiting for our waffles. I think he was upset that two young girls didn't know who he was (in truth we were trying to leave him alone because we knew the etiquette, you do not bother celebrities at a 5 star hotel.) So he struck up a conversation with me. He was wearing a pink muumuu.
