I had a dream last night that my MOH told me she was pregnant. Her and her husband have been trying for a long time, so in the dream I was thrilled. I asked her if we could announce it at my wedding, and she said yes. So, in the dream I announced it and everyone was excited. The dream got me to thinking about today's question.
If a special guest at your wedding had news to share - birthday, anniversary, pregnancy, etc - would you want to make the announcment at the wedding? Or do you feel like that would take away from your day?
I, personally, would love to be able to share news like this at my wedding. I think it makes the day even more special. I know many girls feel like it detracts from their day, however, I really think it would add to it even more. The only exception would be if someone proposed at my wedding. That would probably bother me a bit.

i dunno....maybe its selfish but i'd rather them not make a big announcement at my wedding. the day is supposed to be about FH and I and I wouldn't want a whole production made about other people.

it depends the person..and the news. if it was really close friend/family, i think it be okay (they should ask me first). if it was just a guest, id be annoyed. like w t h

i definitely would not want them to announce it at my wedding. i don't think it would take away from my day but it would shift the attention for quite a while. i personally wouldn't make an announcement like that at someone else's wedding so i would expect that others wouldn't do it at mine. i think it's a little strange...

depends on who and what they are celebrating. My cousins 5th wedding anniversary will be at midnight of my wedding. I have thought about making an announcement to them. It would be special and only take up a few minutes

Probably not. When I think about the beginning stages of my planning process I had a couple of people engaged or pregnant at the same time as me & I always held back so that they could have their moments, as they should. So I think on my wedding day I would expect the same courtesy, JMO

I don't think it is selfish to want the day to yourself AT ALL. Hope the question didn't make anyone feel that way. Just curious to hear everyone's opinions.

i dont think its anyones place to make an announcement at your wedding.
if you know its someones bday or anniversary or what have you then it should be your decision to make that announcement.
i'd be annoyed.

Re: ********** Wednesday QOTD **********
Well our wedding is on Father's Day, so we're definitely going to announce/acknowledge that. Also, our cousin's daughter's birthday is a couple days after, so we'll probably note that as well.
We also may announce that a couple we know will celebrate their 20-year anniversary a month later, but we're going to ask them before hand if they'd like us to.

Re: ********** Wednesday QOTD **********
dont want anyone announcing anything. not bdays, engagements, house buying etc. its one thing to tell the ppl one on one at the wedding, but a whole other thing to make a general announcement. there are 364 other days to do it, why do it at someone's most special days???
dont want to be happy for anyone that day other than for myself. been cheering to many ppl on for my entire life, while holding back for myself. but not at my wedding

Depends on who and what it is. If it's a close relatives bday then fine. Any other announcement, no way.

Call me selfish but I would say no way, their news can wait for another day.
