Re: Weight
cut out sugar and only eat good carbs. eat lots of green veggies. carrots, potatoes and corn turn into sugar.

Re: Weight
just change how you eat, its about a lifestyle change. Eat healthy, cut out alot of fatty foods. If you eat fast food then cut that out, if you drink soda cut that out also. Try eating more grilled foods not fried.
And work out.

I totally agree! It is a lifestyle change...I have just been eating healthy lately and I allow myself to cheat one day a week. I don't beat myself up if I want a piece of chocolate. So far, I have lost 25 pounds and plan on losing another 15 by the wedding.
We all know what we should eat, it is just a matter of doing it! Exercise is key....I do 25 pushups, 50 situps and 25 squats/lunges every morning and night along with some cardio (usually walking) 4-5 days a week.
BEST OF LUCK!

I know Weight Watchers works for a lot of people. I even lost weight switching my regular lunch for Smart Ones.

Congrats, thats a great accomplishment, keep up the good work.
Exactly, when it comes down to it we know what we should be eating and what not to eat. So stay away from things you shouldn't be eating. Its funny but when i lost weight i did the same thing, 6 days of the week i ate healthy and i gave myself 1 day to indulge.

Re: Weight
easier said than done but:
buy healthy food you actually like and keep a stocked fridge. i highly recommend trader joes
eat out infrequently (everything is much less healthy than you'd think) and minimize alcohol intake
exercise!!!
i pretty much just did #1 and had noticeable results but the other 2 would help

Re: Weight
go organic. take out high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, modified starches and anything processed. it will take weight off, and keep it off. think about getting healthy, not losing weight.

Re: Weight
I know this is random and probably not the best thing, but the Special K diet is great. I lost 25-30 pounds on it. You eat Special K cereal for breakfast and lunch and then eat a normal dinner. It isnt that bad. I would even eat 2 bowls if I was still hungry after 1. weight watchers works too.

Re: Weight
I lost 30 pounds in 6 months (I'm 5'5' and went from 170 to 140) and here's what I did:
Kept a food diary Dry honey nut cheerios for breakfast Turkey breast or chicken breast without bread for lunch Something healthy for dinner Plenty of fruits and vegetables Take fiber chews. I eat like 3 a day - I find that it keeps my stomach down because I don't bloat as easily. Drink plenty of water Avoid things with sugar in it (like peanut butter, juices, soda - even diet is bad, jams, many cereals)
And the tough part is the hour of cardio on the elliptical machine like 5 days a week plus weights which is really why all that weight came off.
There's no easy way to lose weight. If you do it the right way the first time, it won't come back. I've lost the weight and for the most part kept it off for 3 years.
I also tried the weight watchers points system and it really works for keeping track of what you're putting in your mouth although the food diary would work just as well if you do your research and figure out how much fat/calories/fiber/protein you need for your size.

Re: Weight
I think it's tough to change what you like to eat for 6 months, I would say focus on the portion size, try to make your grain portions smaller and add some extra veggies. I have lost about 40 pounds over the last 3 years. I stopped eating bagels in the am, started bringing my lunch to work, and left everything else the same. My downfall is frozen yogurt and lemonade in the summer.

totally agree with this. going completely organic can be tough and definitely expensive depending on where you are, but cut out all HFCS, the hydrogenated oils, and white sugars. If you can move to splenda, even better.
And more than anything, EXERCISE. Cardio is best to get the fat off first, and then you can tone with crunches, free weights, etc.

I agree with this also...Organic can be a bit expensive (depending on where you shop for it) but even if you go the 'natural' way it really makes a difference. I had gained ALOT of weight 4 years ago (30 pounds to be exact...) and lost all of it just by eating organic//natural foods, but watching portion size also...It also helped my energy level soar, which is a plus if you are trying to excercise more. No preservatives and chemicals in your food really makes a difference.
