Weight issue when TTC

Weight issue when TTC

We're not TTC right now, but I'm concerned with my weight when we do decide to TTC. When I got PG with my son I was in great shape. I was working out 5 days a week for 3 years and lost 50lbs. Because of my PG I had to stop working out cold turkey so that caused me to gain A LOT of weight when I was PG. I believe I gained 65 lbs. I lost 35lbs when I had my son, but have yet been able to lose the extra weight. I think I've actually gained a little more. I am having such a hard time. I go to the gym 4 days a week, and yet nothing. My body chemistry has changed soooo much since his birth, it's not funny! I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to lose the weight again. I just can't seem to lose it, you know! So I was just really worried that the extra weight will keep us from getting PG when the time comes. What do you girls think? Is their anything medical do you think that will make it take longer to get PG just because of weight? Thanks!

There could be. Being overweight might cause some people to have an elevated LH count (LH is stored in fat) which MIGHT cause problems TTC. You can get yo ur LH checked by a doctor by a simple easy blood test (which is normally checked three days into AF adn a few days after ovulation)

I'm overweight by more than 30 pounds and we got pregnant the first month we used and OPK's, second month trying to get pregnant.

I am sure you will be fine.

I'm definitely overweight by a significant amount and I didn't have any problems getting pg. We weren't actually trying though. I didn't take the pill for a week and got pg the week after when I started a new pack.

I think everyone's situation is different whether you are overweight or not. There is definitely a concern when you are overweight, but it doesn't automatically mean you will have problems TTC or having a healthy pregnancy.

I think you're on the right track with going to the gym, maybe change what/how you're eating and the types of exercise. Your body probably is at a plateau and just needs a different routine. Good Luck!
