Re: Weight loss
Weight Watchers. I just started it three wks ago and I have already lost about 5 lbs. You're not starving yourself, you don't have any special type of food to eat and it is such a simple plan to follow. And if you add exersice to it, it maeks weight lost so much faster.

Re: Weight loss
I agree...I am doing weight watchers too. I have lost about 5 pounds in 3 weeks as well. I joined online and I can track my weight and points there. Once you have the point values for food, it's easy.

Re: Weight loss
I was part of a LIW thread which was a support system for us brides who wanted to lose weight.
We posted our progress, hurdles, good recipes etc that were helping us to lose the weight.
You could always start another one or find a support system with friends or co-workers.

Re: Weight loss
we did south beach a while back. the first two weeks are really hard - especially if you are like me and addicted to sugar - but after that it was pretty easy. plus, the food is really yummy.

There used to be a Weight Watchers thread that we had going for a little while, but it kinda died out. I definitely say WW!! susdoug... glad to see your doing well with it! Keep it up.. I just got back on track and it feels so great to be losing again!

Re: Weight loss
this one works for me, i needed to lose 5 lbs for the wedding and it worked! it's the very light dinner and low sugar diet:
breakfast: fruits and some carb (even a bagel/donut once a week is ok!)
lunch: whatever i feel like as long as it's not too heavy on fried stuff, hold the very sweet dessert
dinner: very very little food, ie. light veggie soup, etc.
the next morning you should feel hungry, otherwise you had too much for dinner. :D

Re: Weight loss
I'm also a Weight Watchers fan. Both my MOH and myself have been on the program for the past 1.5 years. Together we've lost 60 pounds and kept it off. I also recommend exercise. Not only does it help you lose weight faster, but it has so many other health benefits.
Start now. You'll be glad you did!

I did a modified WW plan along w/ getting back to the gym & rollerblading & I lost 48lbs in 7 months.

My fat arse needs to lose 38 pounds in 8 months. Join a gym and watch what you eat. No sugar!

you can track your food and exercise and nutritional goals as well as set goals. i basically just counted calories - stayed between 1200 (low) and 1500 (average diet amount) caloried. i lost like 45lbs. in 6 months. and haven't gained any of it back. =0)
exercise is always good too, especially once you get within your healthy weight range. it's hard to lose weight there (even if you're on the high end - for example it was REALLY hard for me to get below 135 even though i can go down as far as 110 and still be healthy), but exercise helps a lot. just remember when you go to the gym you're probably not gonna lose weight for a while - just inches - since you're replacing fat with muscle.
oh! also, if you hit a plateau, eat more for a day or two and it'll most likely knock you off. like if you've been eating 1500/day, eat 2000 for a day or two and then go back down. it's worked for me!
good luck!

Re: Weight loss
I hafta say, WW Core program is great, no real weighing and measuring if you stick to the allowed foods (basically non-processed, fat-free foods, fruit, veggies, lean meat, eggs, etc.) plus an extra allowance of points to spend as you wish for the week (wine, pizza, etc.).
Lost 5 lbs. the first week, hoping to lose 20 more so I can order a dress for my daughter's wedding!
And it's a plan you can stick to after you lose the weight, good healthy eating habits forever!
Good luck!
