Weight Loss

Hello Ladies...

So here is my story...I have been trying to lose weight for almost 2 years now. I already lost the bulk of my weight but over the summer I gained about 10 pounds. I have lost some of the weight gain but I still would like to lose some more.

Does anyone have any suggestions to give my body that boost to lose these last 10? I exercise 5 days a week and I am on a pretty strict eating plan.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. I def want to lose all the weight before my wedding.

Well I try very hard to drink lots of water. I am a teacher and we do not have a lot of chances to use the bathroom so during the work day my water intake is limited. I try to make up for that when i go home.

I run the tredmill, take kickboxing/pilates 2 times a week. I try to fit in weight here and there (I hate doing them!) I do different exercises on the tredmill. Incline, HITT (running at a speed that will kill me then walking and continue the cycle) Things like that.

Well I try to limit my carb intake and save most of it for the daytime. I do not deny myself food because then I go into overload. So I eat in moderation...3 meals a day with 2 small snacks...

But I have not lost any weight in a month. It is very frustrating and I dont know what to do!

Hmm...heres what i would suggest:

You need to get the weight training in there. Forget as much cardio and do some weight training. Weight train 4 times a week (2 upper sessions, 2 lower body sessions) and do cardio 4-5 times a week. Some 45 minute low intensity sessions mixed with some high intensity (sprints) 15 minute sessions.

Five meals a day each with mainly protein. Breakfast include some healthy carbs like oatmeal, cream of wheat etc. Have ff cottage cheese, greek yogurt as one of your smaller meals, also have a protein shake. (FM me if you want some recommendations about brands and flavors.) On days that you lift weights, have cardio at lunch time and also fit in a piece of fruit. Try to eat brown rice, sweet potatoes..etc... Days that you dont weight train switch your carbs at lunch and fruit to a teaspoon of NATURAL peanut butter. With lunch and dinner throw in lots of veggies to help fill you up!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Re: Weight Loss

change the workouts you've been doing. If you are sticking to the same workout for a while then its normal for this to happen. Your body gets too used to the same moves so you need to do something to wake your muscles up again and push them a bit. I LOOOVE pilates, so try this if you havent yet, also kick boxing and regular boxing is amazing, these are 2 workouts that are the best for abs.

I agree with above post on weight training, its mostly what i do when i work out.

Re: Weight Loss

When I weight train...how many reps should I do? What kind of machines should I be using? I always feel like I hjave no idea what I am doing with weights which is prob why I stay away from it. I know this may sound stupid but do I burn more or less cal when I weight train? That is why I run the tredmill so much...I know I am burning lots of cals when i run.

weight training you burn ALOT more calories. Muscle burns fat so when you develop muscles youre also burning fat at the same time. Also another big difference is that when you do cardio, you only are burning calories for that period of time you are working out, so if you do 30 mins then you only burn calories for 30 mins. When you weight train, you continue to burn fat even after you stop working out, you continue burning fat throughout the day

its 5 small meals, smaller than usual. I used to eat 3 regular meals like everybody else but have snacks in between. More but smaller meals are ideal bc the more times you eat(but healthy and good portion) the more you make your metabolism work so this speeds it up

Re: Weight Loss

Each meal depends on your height and weight...so for me I eat meals that contain 3-4 oz of lean protein (about 21-28 grams of protein) What kinds of food do you like to eat? Send me a list of foods and I can try to put some meals together for you if youd like!

Re: Weight Loss

what if you only go to the gym 3 days a week? There is no way I could do 4 or 5 days....its hard enough to get my butt there 3! I stopped taking the classes my gym offered because I've been going for 3 or 4 months and I honestly see no change, its really discouraging! I've kinda been doing my own thing now, weights elliptical, crunches, trying to eat better...I just wish I enjoyed this stuff.

Hey, you do what you can do! I was findng that if i went after work it would be impossible for me to go 5-6 days a week..so I go before work. This way I have no excuses! What about getting a DVD for at home on days that you can't get to the gym? The key is to find workouts that you enjoy doing. Do you like bike riding? What about kickboxing? Or urban rebounding?

Re: Weight Loss

What's urban rebounding? My boss was talking about those protein shakes the other day hmmm. I know my main problem is what I eat, I am not disciplined at all!

I think 90% of it is diet...definitely. Urban rebounding is a trampoline workout. It is so fun and a great cardio workout!

Rebounding

What kind of classes does your gym have?

the dvds for at home workout is a great idea. I did this all the time. Sometimes the thought of having to get dressed, go back out, go to the gym then come home makes ppl unmotivated. This way when you can just do it right at home, start then and there when you want.

Exercise on demand is great, everyone has this channel. They have so many workouts and all different types

That urban rebounding looks really cool! I go to lucille roberts, they have step classes, butt and gutt, boot camp, but its just doing nothing for me, my body ached for the first few weeks and then nothing so I feel like my body adjusted quickly, thats why I decided to just do the machines and stuff on my own instead of the classes.

i totally understand...gotta keep it fresh! I sometimes do the classes as my cardio and then do weights on my own...the rebounding program is a lot of fun!

Re: Weight Loss

I just came back from the gym. My friend and I tried something different.
We did 15 min rotating incline and lunges
5 pound free weights on each arm 8 reps 3 sets
50 jumping jacks
arm curls 8 reps 3 sets
arm presses
leg lifts
10 min running on tredmill
some weight training for arms that I am unsure of the proper term for it lol
ended with HITT on tredmill for 10 min

What do you think MrsDrink?
