Re: weight loss

I've been doing weight watchers since april and have lost 48 pounds, before I started WW i had lost 10 pounds by going to the gym, so in total for the year I have lost 58 pounds.

I continue to follow WW and I also try to go to the gym 2-3 a week

i basically have been doing 'body for life' - designed my eating plan around that foundation. and i work out 4 times a week, weights and cardio alternately. i've lost about 30 pounds. i have about 15 left. but i've been doing it for a while and it's healthy weight-loss (aka, slow and steady)... i don't believe in pills, tricks, starvation, etc. if you loose it too quickly, you'll just gain it back plus about 10% because you trick your body into going into starvation mode... i eat about 1100-1200 calories a day (based on my height, build, etc) and eat lost of veggies, fruits, nuts and lean protien. i also drink a lot of water and don't eat a lot of refined sugars or red meat. i like the basic principles behind the whole 'body for life' thing. it's by bill phillips. i hate when girls get nuts and starve themselves and think that they have to work out 7 days a week. that does so much more harm than good! good luck :o)

First of all - YAY ladies - that is AWESOME.

I am doing Jenny Craig - I love WW too but I was really overweight and wanted to try something different where I wouldn't have to count points or anything. I joined around Sept/Oct. and am down 40 lbs...it was really easy - their food was good and you didn't have to figure out what you needed to eat - it was all there for you...I've also been going to the gym a few times a week. I still want to lose about 20 more lbs. I think the best thing about any program you go on is this - you will have a day that is unexpected where you totally eat or drink or whatever and the best way to deal with it is to wake up the next day and just start back to normal and not spend one minute worrying about what you did...I lost weight Christmas week and over the holidays because I didn't let one day of overindulgence ruin what I accomplished.

OMG Teri, great job!!! I finally got my ten percent key ring on Thursday. Now I have to set a new goal. So far I have lost 20 pds, ten before WW. I joined WW in October.

Re: weight loss

I started WW the first week of 2008, and it took me until august to lose 38 pounds. Since then, I've been maintaining my weight... although I have to say maintenance is 10 times harder for me than trying to lose the actual weight. I have a good week where I track my food and workout, and then I have a week or 2 where I don't write down anything and try to do it in my head... which doesn't work.

I'm getting my a$$ back in gear this week... but after dinner in the city tonight.

Re: weight loss

After college, I just started calorie counting. I gained the sophomore 30 and i took off about 20 in the first year after school... then like 7 more over time...
I had the time to do that... not rushing for a wedding... but it worked.
I looked online and saw that you should calculate your current body weight by 12 to find the total number of calories to eat per day to stay exactly as you are. Then i just started eating like 200 calories less per day... you could be more aggressive with that if you wanted though.
Keep in mind, 3,500 calories is a pound so if you cut down like 400 and burned 100 at the gym for 7 days, you would lose a pound a week.
And when faced with two choices, always choose the healthier one.

I have really just been watching what I eat and portion size...It seems to be helping.
30 day shred is a good workout...I deifnately suggest it.
