Weight Loss

I am getting married 1/18/14 and it is creeping up faster than expected! I feel like I have so much weight to lose and am struggling to commit to a specific diet. I was thinking weight watchers but wasn't sure if anyone has tried it and has had success....Looking for advice!!!

Weight Watchers is great and you can definitely lose if you stick with it! I like WW because I really don't have ANY free time during the week, so at least I feel like I'm doing something when I can't work out.

I ordered the Insanity DVDs last month because FH's friend did it and she looks great! She watched what she ate but mostly just did the workouts and went down 4 sizes! I did one day day and threw up after lol I'm going to wait until I finish my finals before I commit to feeling like a$$ for the first few days, but it's another option and they're not too expensive!

Weight Loss

Weight Watchers is the best. I have always struggled with losing weight & keeping it off. This is the only thing that works. I am a life time member with WW & totally recommend the program. However from experience I have noticed that it only worked for me when I was attending meeting & was serious about tracking my food. Currently I am up 8 lbs heavier then I want to be. For once if my life WW taught me to put an end to it and not gain all 30 back and start from scratch again. I noticed a gain & am doing something about it. I 100% say try it, but like any diet it will only work if you stick to it & really give it a chance.

I think WWs is a great thing if you can attend meetings. I've tried the online version and felt that I paid a lot of money for what I could get for free on my fitness pal. I also really like the Jillian Michaels DVDs, they kick your butt and you'll feel really strong afterwards.

All great but exercise is needed to!!! I feel like food and I always have an uphill battle my stomach isn't very friendly either as I had my gallbladder out last year and since then, my stomach is in knots 85% of the time!!! I have such a hard time with dieting I wish my fiancé and and I lived together it would certainly be easier to cook a healthy dinner nightly and work out together. Having a work out buddy is key to staying motivated to going to the gym!!!! Hoping nownthat I have one graduate class left and its just a seminar that I attend twice next semester that ill have much more time to work out and tone up my shape!!! Good luck to us all! I know we can do it!

I hear great things about WW and I tried the insanity DVDs too, they are literally INSANE. I thought I was going to die lol. I find that I push myself much more when I'm in a class at the gym as opposed to doing it at home from a DVD, but thats just me.

If anyone lives in the Smithtown area I am looking for a gym buddy! I go to LA Fitness.

Weight Loss

I did weight watchers about 5 years ago and lost 25 pounds. I've gained like 10 of that back depending on what week it is but I really did find it a manageable way to lose weight. I have a tough time motivating to exercise which is why I've gained 10 pounds back, I find if I join a gym I don't go and I've wasted my money but home is tricky because I get comfortable on my couch and lose my motivation. Once I'm in a routine I'm good but it's a matter of getting started and into the routine. We have the insanity dvd's and may give them a try but I've heard what all you girls are saying which is it's tough so we'll see!

Weight Loss

When I first did WWs, I lost 10 pounds in a month just doing that. Then I fell off of it and gained it all back. Urrrggghhh!!

I also did the first 5 or 6 weeks of Insanity but couldn't find the strength to get through the last two weeks. I didn't lose any weight on that because I didn't incorporate a healthy diet into it. I want to start it again in January when I'll have more free time and do it for real this time.

Over the summer, I lost almost 15 pounds by just going hard - hardcore diet and 4 hours a week of exercise. I've plateaued since then, however, and I also got bored with my diet. I also took a second job this month for the holidays so working out hasn't really been happening. So I'm so afraid I'm gonna gain a lot of the weight back!

Also, one thing that really helped me over the summer when I was all hardcore about it was starting a blog and recording all my daily calories and workouts. I made it public and posted it on my Facebook and Twitter and it motivated me to stay honest with what I ate.

Weight Loss

Thanks ladies! I use myfitnesspal almost every day to track my calories. I started weight watchers yesterday and feel that as much as I want like 40 pounds off for my engagement photos on Jan 19, it just won't happen. I have to be realistic and make a lifestyle change. My wedding is still 400 days away so I feel that if I do WW, track my points, count my calories and exercise at least 30 minutes a day I can be successful by my wedding, or at least I hope! My biggest problem is mental. If I think of something I want to eat, it gets me going and then I break my diet. I am committed (although I always say that). I just feel extremely gross and unhappy with myself. This is my 'rock bottom.' I haven't been this heavy in a long time and just can't believe I let it get this bad. I think the biggest stressor for me is the holidays. Every Saturday this month, we have plans and I am worried about it. I have told myself it is the holidays enjoy but don't OVER INDULGE. I am hoping that I can actually stay true to that, worst case, I just have to get right back to it the next day.

I feel like I would be so much more motivated if I had more girlfriends to go through this process with me. Anyone live in the Selden area? :)

I've found myfitnesspal.com to be a great tool in losing weight. My FH and I both used it before we went on a cruise to Alaska...he lost 30 lbs and I lost 15 without even excersizing!

This! WW is a great tool. I'm also a lifetime member. I joined two years ago and lost 17 pounds - which was 7 more than what I wanted. I feel great and in control. Sometimes I do give into my cravings (especially when it's that time of the month) but if you stick with it and are serious about it, it's a flawless program. You'll learn to lose the weight and keep it off.

Ok I sound like a spokes person lol

I have been doing the bridalicious DVD's from theknot.com and they are hardcore! Also Jackie Warner's DVDS are good too. The hard part if keeping a healthy diet especially throughout the holidays.

Weight Loss

My FH and I had started weight watchers right before the holidays we got one solid week in and did great!! We had lost that first week and had found that counting points became easier and easier as the days passed. It was all about portion control which helped start to shrink our stomachs. Of course the holidays came up so we caved but as of the New Year will get right back to it and I feel confident that we can be successful with this new lifestyle change. I know that it will be a slow process but I have over a year and I would rather do it the right way and it take time than do it the wrong way for immediate results. Anyone else on a weight loss journey starting 1/1/13 and if so, lets keep in touch to support each other!

Weight Loss

I live in Brentwood and my FH just signed us up for the World Gym in Bay Shore. I'd like to lose about another 25-30lbs before I have my skin reduction surgeries.

I had gastric bypass in may of 2011, and am down about 175lbs.

I took up running this past february and am going to start training for the LI half thats in May.

I'm totally up for motivation and Brides of 2014 walks!!!

Weight Loss

Your wedding is the day before mine you have plenty of time to loose the weight in a healthy way that will stay off! Just be positive and stay focused and tell yourself you WILL accomplish your weight loss goals. Weight Watchers is a great program! This year I lost 55 pounds just with eating right and exercising. After the holidays I gained like 10 lol but I think some of it is muscle because I've been strength training like a beast but either way once new years hits I am going to commit 100% again to eating clean and keeping up at the gym. I'd like to loose another 25 before the wedding so I am all about motivating each other along. Of course I want to be thinner for my wedding who doesn't but for me now its more about getting fit and healthy and being proud of myself

I also use Tumblr for fitness motivation and inspiration. I love looking at before and after photos and all the healthy foods and exercises that people post. Whenever I don't feel like going to the gym I hop on that and I'm out the door in no time.

One thing I like to do to keep myself sane is not measure all of my progress with the scale. Notice how your clothes start to fit better, things like stairs or running to catch a train become a little easier, you body starts to look better maybe you feel a muscle you didn't even know you had! even if the number on the scale doesn't go down you can't let that discourage you!
