My hair is really, really thick and I've been growing it out for the wedding. Length - it basically reaches to where the back of my bra sits on my back.
My scalp is like...hurting lately. It's not itchy, it's painful in the way it might feel if you do a tight braid or twist or high ponytail. Or after you take out the braid or ponytail and your whole scalp feels sensitive.
Haven't changed shampoo or conditioner.
Is it possible that it hurts BECAUSE I'm growing it out? Does that make any sense at all? My hair hasn't been this long in years.
Help.
ETA: I haven't bumped my head on anything, and it's also been going on for a couple of weeks now.

you might have slept wrong and your hair was getting pulled in the middle of the night.. this happens to me too.

Re: Weird hair/scalp question
Sometimes my head hurts if I wear a ponytail all day. It's like my hair got so used to that position, it doesn't want to be taken out!

Okay so I'm not crazy for thinking that, because that's the only conclusion I could come up with.
I don't think I'm sleeping on it in a weird way or anything.
I needs me a hairscut.

the worse thing you can do to hair and scalp is to sleep with it up.

Re: Weird hair/scalp question
That happened to me!
It's called folliculitis. You may develop bumps on your head--it's because of the new hair folicles or something. The doctor gave me an antibiotic, but he also said it should go away on its own, so I didn't take it (I don't like to take antibiotics if I don't really need to--I'm weird). It went away in about a week--make sure you're washing your hair nightly and not wearing it up too much or when you sleep he said.

I also don't take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. You're not weird! (Or maybe we're both weird, LOL!)
Thanks for the info...so glad I'm apparently not going crazy!!!

Re: Weird hair/scalp question
Do you wear your hair up all day? Sometimes if I wear my hair in a tight ponytail it hurts when I take the scrunchie out.
