Weird Vendor Situation - Need Advice and kinda long
I'm very picky about my make-up, I hate the way I look when ANYONE does it for me. So when I had a few make-up trials, I thought it looked ok and basically tried to talk myself into liking it, so I ended up booking someone but deep down I really just want to do my own. I decided to cancel my make-up being done, but keep my bridesmaids being done by the person I originally booked. She misread the email I wrote her that said, plain and simple, 'I want to do my own make up that day but still need you to do at least 1 bridesmaid and maybe more.' She thought I canceled the whole thing and then, the same day I emailed her, she booked a BP for my day and now can't help me. Uhhhh?
Her 'solution to the miscommunication' was to book me with a different LIW make-up vendor and apply my deposit towards this person I have never met before and barely heard about.
I'm super disappointed and really worried about a brand new person I've never met. And I'm really surprised because it's a well-liked vendor. I'm not 100% if its legal for her to book someone while we technically have a contract?!
What would you do??

That's a tough one....
She Can't legally book you with someone else so if you don't want to use them, you are NOT obligated to. As for her messing up, you have email proof to what you wrote. I would tell her that since she messed up, you want your deposit back and go somewhere else. If you cancelled all, then I could understand her keeping the deposit, but since you cancelled just yourself and still wanted to use her for the BP, she should have used the deposit for them.

Who's the new vendor?
I'm doubting my make up choice too-
I didn't LOVE my trial.
I'm trying to get in for a second trial to 'tweak' I'm REALLY picky about make up too.
I do my own much better than most other people can.
Anyway-
In my mind it's far better to lose a deposit than to be unhappy-
and since you're doing your own-
Who cares- let someone come for your girls. I'm sure it will be fine!
Theirs matters of course- but FAR less than yours!

Oh and emails count as legal documents I've heard. So you do have proof.
