I had a strong feeling because i fit the profile of having Gestational Diabetes. So i have to test my blood suger 2 times a day.. just add it to checking my BP everyday and it is just making this pregnancy roll along. So if any who had this have any words of advice ..or have some tips it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Well i failed my 3 hour glucose test
There are a number of us who had GD on this board. Are you insilin-dependant or just have to monitor your diet? Also- I didn't fit the profile and still had it. Don't beat yourself up over this. Some bodies can handle the hormonal change better than others. This nutrionist helped me A LOT Elise Feldman (Stony Brook) 631-444-0528 is her direct line.
I had an endo who kept my blood sugar level at 90 or below waking and 120 or under post 1-hour meal. Elisa works with doctors who use 140 post 2 hour meal numbers. So you can discuss which number your doctor wants to use and Elise can help you with the diet requirements.
Go Lean Crunch cereal (1/2 cup only) is the ONLY cereal I was allowed to eat BUT before I met Elise I was told NO cereal. She really helped me find things that I could into my diet
If you do need the shots make sure your endo gives you 'pen' insilin- it is MUCH easier to use. Make sure DH learns how to give the shots too. I , for one, needed the break from doing it myself at times. I also iced the area for 10 minutes before each shot because they hurt IMO. The ice helped A LOT.
It goes away 'poof' right after you deliver the baby in 99.9% of the cases. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders when that happened!
Post when you need support, or our having a bad day. I did that ALL the time.

Thank you so much. My sister is actually an RD .. but she lives in florida. So she talked to me yesterday and she game me some pointers untill i see my Dr next week. So she is going to email me a sample plan and then atleast if i have any questions she can help me.. but i am brinhing my DH with me to the Dr next week so he can hear what the Dr has to say and his is a great supporter since we both lost lot of weight on WW together. I just need to go shopping today so i have enough of the 'riht foods' in the house I live in Northern Westchester so i am going to ask the Dr for a recommendation. right now i have the home test and i am testiong in the AM when i get up and 2 hours after breakfast.

Re: Well i failed my 3 hour glucose test
I had GC with my 1st pregnancy and it isn't easy but it is doeable. I was only on a diet restriction not insulin. My dr sent me to a nutrionist and it helped a great deal - you will be amazed at what you have to stay away from. I never realized OJ had 29grams of sugar until then. I think what I missed the most was pizza and that was the first thing I had the day after delivery. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or if you just need some support.
