Well the strike is making it harder for the fire department to get to their jobs.

Anthony said the traffic in Brooklyn is SICK. He's a chauffeur. This could mean longer response times which could mean peoples lives! I hope these people are fined big time!

Well my Fh works for transit and by you saying you hope they get fined big time will be hurting my family. As of now he loses 2 days pay for every 1 day they're on strike not to mention the actual day that they strike which adss up to 3days pay everyday.
I am sorry for the financial hardship this is causing your family, but they shouldn't have striked. It is illegal and they knew the consequences when they chose to walk.
It wasn't the employees choice to walk , the president couldn't agree with the MTA so it was his cabinet that voted not the thousands of workers. Do you honestly think that the majority of these people want to loose that much money?? I know I don't especilly since it's close to the holidays.
I agree... it is the union who should be held responsible, not the individual employees. Unfortunately, thats the way a union works. Yea you elect them, but you are giving them alll the say! You would think in something as important as this they would have a union-wide vote, not just the members of the board.
I agree

Oh I DEFINATELY AGREE! I bet if they had all the union employees vote this would NOT have happened.

Not for nothing but WE the citizens are going to pay for all of these financial losses at the end of the day. Taxes will def go up... and I mean this is just absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

i wouldn't blame the individual workers. they don't choose to strike, the union voted on that.
I am not blaming individual workers (sorry if my post gave that impression), but the union is made up of the workers. They voted to strike or chose the people in power who chose to strike. I believe in what they are fighting for, but I think they should have kept working (even without a contract) until they reached an agreement. I don't think the millions of dollars this will cost was worth it. Hopefully, that is the least of it - no ambulance or fire fighter hassels, etc.
The board which I think only consists of 40 people voted and 28 of those people said yes to strike.

And its true...it is not the choice of individual employees to walk of fthe job...it is the Union's choice as a whole.

and to clarify when I meant fined.. I meant fine the idiot who made the decision to break the law and strike.. Not the individual workers.

I don't blame the strikers one bit! I also understand where everyone else is comming from. I blame the people in charge who haven't cleaned up the bathrooms like the strikers asked. Come on, this could have been very easly solved!

Unrelated funny story aboput mishearing something. I interrupt something he was listening to on the radio. And he's like uh what are you doing? So I stay quiet and then after it's done he lowers the radio and says 'did you forget where you were' and I say EXCUSE ME!!!! Well turns out I asked where we were and I forgot. Probably not so funny to everyone else but you had to be there. we were both

I really sympathize with you Ness. Things will be ok! I think it is hard for people looking in to decipher exactly how this effects the actual workers.
