Went B&N to read 'Left Behind' UPDATE Book 3 done..book 4 done

Ok.. so I had a couple of hours to burn.. Did I mention that I devour books?????? 450pages in about 3hours is normal for me.

Sooo...

Ok.. finally the story moves along.. as a matter of fact some parts moved so quickly I was shocked and had to double check it just glazed over points so fast.. a LOT less praying going on.. so Im pleased that we keep to the 'dark side' if you will.

Point of contention..come on people its called SEX! You mean to tell me in the future during the time of Rapture a 20 yr old girl going to a californian university by herself and a 30 yr old big time reporter are BOTH virgins.. Happen to find eachother and fall in love in less than 2months? Im not THAT Stupid. But i see the whole Christian value of that.

Good points.. lots of twists and turns.. tons of stuff this time I can just skim past. Last book I really had to read the whole thing to really understand what they were trying to say. Finally this book is truly getting to the end of the world as we know it. Which is why I picked up a book by two pastors to begin with .

I found it Ironic that Relgion and Ficton are so close together in B&N. hehe

Great points of the book: Letting these two pastors explain why Jews are left behind, Catholics and other religious people.

Still... this book moves stuff along so fast, you almost kinda get lost on what the point was.

Ok.. so Im off tomorrow.. Maybe I'll go eat up the third book during a break from the house.
*shrug*

Ok book 3 done

Question for any who have read this book.. does anything evil EVER happen? I mean it infers to tragedy but more or less as a 'this will happen.. oh look it's happening.. it happened.' Nothing first person of the 'tragedies'. So now that im three books in it seems I can read them even faster..

Look a miracle...
Look a prophecy...
Look another miracle....

There's still a plot.. i just wish they'd continue THAT plot instead of pushing their pro-life progroganda on me.

Very glad im not paying for these books.
I think I may just skip to the end and read the book 10 after all.. the first three books just keep repeating WHAT is GOING to happen.. so why bother reading them.. it's not like we read about the earthquake its more like 'look at the horror below.. terrible isnt?' that's it??? a few sentences about buildings collapsing and that's it? I thought it would be.. I don't know.. a little more.. 'world ending' seeing as it IS the end of the world we are talking about here.. isnt it?

Xel -

I am up to Book 3 myself now and did a search for your posts because I remembered that I suggested them to you.

Did you read all 12 (just curious). And in Book 3 the First test or Tribulation whatever you call it (I'm blanking right now) but the Red Horseman - is the nuclear war - its just symbolic. So thats the first part of something actually happening instead of the characters just talking about whats to come. Since you are not religious, and I was raised Catholic and went to school at Catholic school for 12 years (yikes!) I see the books a bit differently. I think that the authors are trying to portray Tsion Ben-Judah as a comparison to Christ - many people believe in him yet he is a hunted fugitive.

I personally am addicted to the series!

Stef - just try 'em

I don't like preaching either but most of the books are just exciting adventures!

Actually no.. i stopped at 3.. I think I'll go read 4 on friday.. i have nothing to do.

It's alright but so predictible.

I know I say im not religious but I mean it in the way that is I dont go to church.

However, I am extremely devout to my faith in 'GOD' as it were. I just don't believe in the faiths that preach things that I wont go into right now.

I believe.

These books became a mini series? Or at least that's what i've heard.. anyone know more?

Yes, there was a movie made about the first 2 books.... Kirk Cameron played Buck! LOL

I kind of picture Buck looking like Ryan Seacreast from American Idol, and Chloe like Sami from Days of Our Lives.

Re: Went B&N to read 'Left Behind' UPDATE Book 3 done..book 4 done

ok finished 4

For a fictional telling of the end of the world.. its alright.

Sorta thought the quick marriage to Amanda was fishy.. but hey.. who has sex these days?
LOL

Anyway.. i want to finish them only cause they are a series..and Im a series junky.. but I REFUSE
REFUSE COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY
NO WAY JOSE!! REFUSE
to spend the full price of cost for them

I may enjoy them, but im not about to support their cause. no thanks.. ill pass.. it's like handing a basket around in church that says $20's and above only.. I may believe.. but why should I be required to pay so much for my beliefs? Last time I checked.. god didnt keep a checklist on cash monies contributed to the 'church'.

I don't know any other author or book I'd pay $15 for a that many pages of a soft cover book. Doesn't make sense to me to do it now.

I may go on ebay and buy used copies. Then im left with the decision to give away or sell them, but then it would be passing on the 'word' which im against.. so I'll probably keep them, but then I'd have to buy the whole set including the 3 I've read in the store. Not gonna happen.

So.. if anyone wants to lend me there's fine, otherwise.. I guess im stuck with when I have a free day to go to B&N to read.

Xelindrya--I have most of the series if you want to borrow the books--Just let me know--I packed them away somewhere---

The series is based on the book of Revelations, so if you read the Bible, you know what is going to happen in the end.

I actually love the books but am a little peeved that T.LaHaye and J.Jenkins are milking the series for all it's worth--How is that Christian behavior??

Wouldnt mind borrowing them.

As far as Christian behavior, I agree they are definately milking it for all it's worth. Makes Slim Shady look like a saint.

why do you assume they did it just to make $$? For me the series has actually made me question many things in this world and strenghten my beliefs? So what they made a few bucks off of it? They still changed many people's lives!

Re: Went B&N to read 'Left Behind' UPDATE Book 3 done..book 4 done

I am assuming they are in it for the $$$ b/c the entire series could have been consolidated down to 1 or 2 books. Those 1 or 2 books could have touched people's lives just as much as 12++ books can.

Re: Went B&N to read 'Left Behind' UPDATE Book 3 done..book 4 done

interesting point .....they could have been less than 12 books, I will agree to that - but I don't think 1 or 2 would have had the same affect.

I'm addicted to them - guess I am a sucker lol...but I get them from booksfree.com

Sorry to say more to this.. but the reason I think it's for the $$ is the same but ALSO because not only could it have been less books say.. 6 but the amount they charge is higher than normal books that size in my opinion. I could be wrong, but if you could make the same story in half the books why not do it? Then I wouldnt complain about the costs. Instead they would have us pay out $15 min a book 12 times over and spend $180 when I could have read it for around $90.

I think I read about 4 of the series two years ago...I think. When I first read the first book, I was so clueless that it was a series!!! I was so pissed to find out it had so many books. I stopped at 4. Maybe, I will pick it up one day. LOL
