the first place I went to was Valentina's in Brooklyn. The girl that helped me (Daniella) was very nice (and patient!). We narrowed it down to 2 dresses that I liked.
Then I went to Kleinfeld's for my 2nd appt. The girl that helped me (Josie) was also very nice (which I must say that I was very surprised because of the bad rep that they have). She helped me narrow down my choices to 1.
And, now - I'm stuck!! I can't figure out which dress I like the best. I actually went back to Valentina's to try on the 2 dresses after I got out of Kleinfeld's and it just made me more confused. I didn't think dress shopping would be so hard... and I thought when I saw 'the one' I would definitely know...

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
Sounds like you had a good experience in the stores
I am getting my dress from valentina's. My dress when I put it on i was like wow this is nice. Everyone gushed over it and I was like yea ok
Then the next day its all i could think about. I was going nuts over the dress. I gave it a week and went back. I tried it on again and I was like wow. I cant believe how great I look in this dress. I didnt want to take it off.
Maybe give it a week and go back to Valentina's and put on the 2 dresses again and see how you feel.

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
I must've tried on a million dresses in the one shop I went to and some were fine, I liked them, okay...but then I put my dress on and I knew.
So, my advice is, if you haven't 'known' yet, you haven't really found the right one.
When you put it on, you won't want to take it off, you'll get all teary, it's amazing!!

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
Thanks girls... I actually made another appt. to go back to Kleinfeld's to try on MORE dresses since I already took up about 2 hours of the sales girls time today (which was only supposed to be 1 1/2 hrs)... so I told her I would go come back another day.. I will also bring different people with me as well and maybe I'll be able to get different opinions and be able to decide from there?
Anyone else have this problem????? I feel like such an idiot.. all 3 of the dresses that I narrowed it down to are beautiful....and the prices are pretty reasonable (especially for Kleinfelds). I just can't figure out if I like them enough or maybe there is something else out there that I would like better?! Ugh... I hate making decisions...
I was really hoping to pick out my dress today..

Don't be upset! It's okay that you didn't buy your dress today!
Perhaps one of the dresses that you tried on today will start to stick out in your mind. Since none of them screamed - the one - at the moment, I think it is great that you will keep looking. (Hey - you only get to try on wedding dresses once - go all out!!)
I was advised to always have your '1st place' dress in mind to compare all other dresses to. Were the dresses that you liked today all a tie?
Also, you may want to consider the style of your reception hall (a grand hall may call for a grand dress, while a beach wedding would be nicely complimented by a less formal dress), and how each dress makes you feel (one may make you feel classic and princessy, while another makes you feel like a modern, sophisticated bride - which look do you want to go for?)
You will find 'the dress!' Maybe you even already found it, and just need to try on some more dresses to be sure.

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
Thanks jvs... There actually is one (okay, maybe 2) dresses that stick out in my mind more out of the 3 in the running... It's funny because I like something about all three... I just wish they were all in one dress!!
Yes, I definitely need to try on more.. thanks for all your kind words... I hope I have found the one already but just haven't realized it yet..
It's just so frustrating... I'm getting married in July so I just wish I could've found the dress either yesterday or today since I took the time off from work. I am getting there... very... slowly...

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
Thanks jennbaby.. you know, I actually did tear up a bit with one of the dresses.. but I am just not sure if it's the one.. I think it may have been just the fact that it was the first dress I tried on with the veil and when I saw the whole picture, it was just emotional for me... I don't know.. I'm confused... I hope I will know 'the one' soon..

Hey, I wish I were in your shoes! I feel like I found mine too soon (ie, I want to have more fun trying on dresses)!!!
You'll find something beautiful, and you'll flip out.
When I put mine on, I didn't want to take it off again.

I am in the EXACT same predicament you are. The more dresses I tried on, the more indecisive I became

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
I'm sorry you didn't buy a dress yet...just don't stress over it. You'll find the one! And, maybe it's good that you're still able to look and try on so you don't have that feeling of...'did I buy the right one'?
Maybe we can help...can we see pics of the dresses you have in mind?...not that we'll be able to see you in it, maybe it will be something about each of them we can help you out with.
Good Luck at your next appt...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

You wouldn't happen to have pictures of the three dresses, would you?

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
I think you'll definitely know the perfect dress. When I went shopping, my mother, and future mother-in-law thought that I would get this one dress, but there was something about it that just didn't sit well with me. Then I was trying on 'poofy' dresses (didn't originally want this because I'm short) and I thought it was ugly on the hanger, but when I tried it on, I felt like a princess.... You'll definitely know which is the 'one'

I am glad that you loved Valentina's. I know that Danielle is wonderful. She was my salesgirl too. I drove her crazy and she was so nice about everything.
It is ok that you did not order your gown today. You will know when it is the one when it is the right one. I tried on 5 dresses in Valentina's but when I put one of them I just knew that it was the one. Keep us posted on your dress shopping.

I really liked this one dress but was not sure if it was the one. Then I went another time and was trying on dresses which felt like work. that is when I knew that the original dress was the ONE

Re: Went dress shopping today and...
I totally know what you are going through. I’ve been to four stores and have tried on dresses. I’ve gotten frustrated but I also have three top contenders. One of the dresses I can’t stop thinking about and I’ve imagined myself on the day with the flowers, with bridesmaids, with FH, etc. I made an appointment to go try on the dress again and I’m bringing a different bridesmaid and a friend who is in fashion design and knows about materials (backstory: I found this dress at the Bridal Garden in NYC. The dresses there are either left overs from sample sales or previously worn. All of the dresses need to be drycleaned, altered and some do need some restoration. The dress that I can’t stop thinking about may need a little restoration and before I decide to buy I really need to know if it is possible to make the dress work. I’ve never seen a dress quite like it and in reality there is no way I could afford it). So we’ll see. I have appointments at two the Gown Company and the Gown Company’s sample sale stores on Friday and I’ll keep looking some more if the other dress doesn’t work. I’ll probably go back and try on the two other dresses as well.
Like everyone has said have fun and enjoy the process. And remember that no matter which dress you choose you will look gorgeous on your wedding day.
