Went gown shopping today!

So I have a bit of a dilemme...I went to 2 bridal salons and found beautiful dresses in both!

The first one is everything I want but the back is a little plain (the woman said that she cant add anything to the dress in the back) and it was $3200 -but they are selling it to me for $1900.

the second one is beautiful as well...but its $3400!

I dont know what to do..I love both! I feel like spending an extra $1500 is not worth it though!

Suggestions please!

Have you looked at other dresses that are simillar to the one you want? you can try shopping around to see if you can find them cheaper at other bridal shops.

thats alotttt of $ on a dress to wear for 1 day i really dont want to spend more then $1,000 but i guess im living in a dream world.. i know a nice one is prob exp

I think you should do what makes you happy, even if its spending an extra 1500. Its your dress and I think the dres is really important. I have a budget in mind but if I love a dress thats more, Im going to spend it because I want a dress Im in love with.

do you have pictures? what would you want to be done differently?

i loved my dress but also thought it was plain in the back (keep in mind i WANTED a plain dress, but it was plain even for me) so i had them add covered buttons to the back, and had the train extended by 12'. I think it made a huge difference, especially the buttons which showed up in a lot of my pictures.

if you love the $3k dress you might be able to shop around and find a place that will sell it to you for less

I REFUSE to ever go back to RK Bridal again! It was the WORST experience that I have ever had! The designer of the gown is not really know...I cant even find pics online for either of them. THe first one (the one for $3400) I found at Iman bridal salon, and the other one is from Bridal Coutour in Manhasset

I'd look around a bit more. Maybe you can find a better deal...or a dress you love even more. We all have a good amount of time...so dont rush...if you arent comfortable spending an extra $1500

I really feel the one that you feel the best in....I know the other one is more expensive but do you really like it that MUCH??? maybe you should really give it a big thought!!!.....if you are also thinking reasonable and don't want to go all out with your dress and feel amazing on the cheaper one then buy that one i think it all depends on you and your expectations

well, what is your budget to begin with? whatever it is, give lead room of about $500 more for your dress...the dress is one of the most important factors!!

whichever dress you choose, if you truly fall in love with it, and it's within your reach get it

if this is the first time dress shopping, don't settle...you may not even love this dress the next time you try it on you may not like it as much (at least that's what happened to me)

Sorry to crash! very exciting! What dresses? Maybe there are some dresses that are similar in style but have more of what you are looking for? If you arent thrilled then these dresses arent the ones...keep lookin!

are you willing to search around and find a similar style to the one thats really expensive....Maybe you can find something close to it but alot cheaper....

I could never spend that much on a dress im wearing once. I know I could find a dress I love to death for less somewhere. We spent an extra $3000 to upgrade my e-ring to a Tacori setting that I adored. I felt like that was a better investment since i'll wear my ring everyday for a long time.

I think you have more shopping to do!

I thought I couldn't decide at first either but then I kept going back to this one dress. I tried on other beautiful dresses but there was one that I was always thinking about and thats how I made my decision.

My advice: Shop around price wise - I found out who carried my dress besides Bergdoff Goodman and got a better deal.

first off. only you know your budget and only you know how much you (or family that may or may not be helping) are willing to spend on a dress.

at first i thought i would never want to spend more than like $1500 on a dress. but than my mom got involved and said she would help pay for my dress. we found one i loved for $4000. then shopped around some more and found one i loved EVEN MORE for $3000. and thats the one i put a deposit on.

so i would say. shop around. u might find something you like better that incorporates everything you love about a dress. and that may be the same price or less expensive.

this is (hopefully) the one, single time in your life that you will wear a wedding dress. and probably the only time you will wear anything as expensive as a wedding dress. so take some more time. and dont fret over an extra $1000. it wont add up to much in the long run.

Try shopping around for the more expensive one, you might find it cheaper!

i think you still have time left to shop around. if you are still towrn between a couple of dresses take someone to see them whos opinion you really value. when you put it on if they start crying u know its the right one.

I am going to go on Friday back to both places with my Grandmother. The one that is cheaper is only cheaper because I am buying the sample which has been discounted. So the only thing that is really different that is making me question which one to get is the price. I could afford to get the more expensive one- but I feel like its silly. I have been shopping around and the dresses that are in the 1000-2000 price range are not what I want (although some are nice)...so I feel like I am not going to find somthing cheaper. Ill update this on Friday! Thanks for you suggestions!
