Went looking at sites yesterday...

Went looking at sites yesterday...

and I loved Port Jefferson Country Club's location, the outside look, the outdoor ceremony area, the deck, but was not a huge fan of the reception room (which is also where we would have our ceremony if it rained ). Does anyone know other places that have such a dramatic view of the ocean and is as elegant on the outside and surrounding neighborhood? FYI - it will have to have a smaller min because I am having a smaller wedding (100) - if it is a larger venue then I guess a Sat. day wedding would do as well.

Places I have already looked at on the water:
San Souci's
Swan Club
Vanderbuit
Carlton on the Sound
CLM

You could look at Sunset Harbour. The rooms for a Saturday is 80min and 125min I don't know if they have a separate room for ceremonies. Since I am having mine at the church but you could ask.

Cheateu La Mer is in Lindenhurst and it on the water. My sister got married there and it was really nice. If its nice out you arrive to your reception by a boat

John Anthonys is on the water
So is Chateu La Mer
I believe Riveria
There are some smaller places on the water in Bohemia/Oakdale area (Snapper Inn, Riverview)
GOOD LUCK!

We also wanted something on the water. Although we did end up booking PJCC, Lombardis on the sound, the other runners up were John Anthonys and Riviera.

Good luck

Both John Anthony's and Crescent have too high of a min - even for day weddings. CLM - was not my style. I've heard great things about Lands End - don't know the min for a Sat day. I really want an isolated feeling (which is hard to find on long island. No views of the roads, parking lot, marina - unless it is a stunning view (i.e. marina at Sag Harbor or Port Jeff).

Capt Bills I've heard nice things, however I am having my engagement party at Bridgeview Yacht club and I think they are simular (we were going to look into captain bills if we did not like this location).

I am annoyed with myself at this point for being so picky!

PJCC was absolutely amazing!!! Do you know if any of the other rooms could be used for reception? It might be doable for us because we are having a smaller wedding.

Don't be annoyed at yourself for being picky! It's a big decision and you want to be happy with what you pick. Are you looking at Nassau or Suffolk? Are you open to New Rochelle?

Lands End is beautiful...not sure about the minimum for a Sat day though. I would give them a call. It definately feels 'isolated' and it is right on the water.

I think there is only one room for recption. We also loved the idea that it's not off any main roads or highways. I know for a Sunday day the min is 100.

You're sweet! We are open to the location - Nassau or Suffolk - preferrably Suffolk because it is really hard to find an isolated place in Nassau. We have looked upstate as well. Whereever the place, we would need a fun town for our guest to stay afterwards. I am not familiar with New Rochelle area is there someplace you were thinking of?

No problem! We looked in New Rochelle even though we were getting married in Nassau because it is pretty close. They are quite a few places on the water, but you would have to call and find out about minimums for a day wedding. Glen Island Harbor Club is beautiful and I know that they have a smaller room you could use. It definitely has that 'isolated feel' and the food is great. Give them a call also.

Look at Lands End... it is sooo beautiful.. the view when you walk into the ballroom is amazing!

The food is to die for- my sister got married at Flowerfield- same owners.. and everything was wonderful there.... Lands End was one of out top choices but we have a lot of family in the city and nassau so we thought it was too far away!

PJCC is also very nive- One of the reasons I choose Carlyle was for the same thing u said- it was away from major roads... i love the drive through the park on a mid summer evening....

Good Luck

They only have one wedding at a time. They do have the room upstairs that you could ask about but I don't know if they would do a wedding there. Did you try negotiating their minimum?
I loved my wedding there.

Lands End has an amazing view-its just a gorgues place! But I'm almost positive that they have a 200 person min.
I also really liked The Riviera, the cocktail hour was outside and it was beautiful!

Re: Went looking at sites yesterday...

Oh man, I sooooo LOVED the Land's End and the Glen Island Harbor Club- both were more than my budget allowed. There's also a place in New Rochelle, The VIP. The Glen Island is really beautiful, but from the smaller room upstairs there aren't any windows, only the downstairs room, and the cocktail hour. Not sure if that would matter to you?
Had I known about The Cresent Club, I would've gone to check that out, it's right on the water and looks amazing. The Rivera and John Anthony's as well.
Keep looking until you're happy!
