and I loved Port Jefferson Country Club's location, the outside look, the outdoor ceremony area, the deck, but was not a huge fan of the reception room (which is also where we would have our ceremony if it rained ). Does anyone know other places that have such a dramatic view of the ocean and is as elegant on the outside and surrounding neighborhood? FYI - it will have to have a smaller min because I am having a smaller wedding (100) - if it is a larger venue then I guess a Sat. day wedding would do as well.
Places I have already looked at on the water: San Souci's Swan Club Vanderbuit Carlton on the Sound CLM

You may also want to check out Old Field Club in Setauket. It's on the water, elegant, and great for a smaller number like 100 or so....

Cheateu La Mer is in Lindenhurst and it on the water. My sister got married there and it was really nice. If its nice out you arrive to your reception by a boat
I second that, and Captain bills. The bad thing about PJCC is there is no view at all from the reception room, strange that they renovated it that way IMP...

Re: Went looking at sites yesterday...
We are having a Saturday afternoon wedding at Lands End, and the minimum is 135. If you guarantee 175, they will come down a few dollars per person.
We also looked at Old Field Club, which is a very different feel, but also quite beautiful with water views, deck, etc. It is very secluded. The maximum there is 150, I think. Our guest list was to big, so it was out of the question :(
We also weren't crazy about the ballroom at Lombardis on the Sound either-- very strange set-up. Good luck finding the perfect venue!

how abouut sail harbor in bayville. its secluded and right on the beach, its also a smaller place so i think your minimum should be fine and its one wedding at a time.

My cousin got married at San Souci's I didn't like it. MAybe it was the room my cousin had They had a staircase in the middle of the dance floor. an dI felt like the tables were on top of one another not only that I wasn't to crazy about the food. IT was a few years ago so they may have changed a few things but thats just my opinion.

I would also suggest the Old Field Club...it definitely has an old school charm to it. As a previous poster mentioned, it's pretty secluded, not on any main roads, but has a beautiful bay view, with a wrap around deck and yes, it's perfect for smaller weddings. You may not like the set up either (the dance floor is on one side of the room), but my experience there was quite positive. Good luck finding your perfect spot! I might have suggest the Harbor Club in Huntington, but its right on a main road. Old Field Club is certainly off the beaten path.

Did you look at Danfords in Port Jeff? It is right on the docks overlooking the harbor and is steps away from the village, which is a really great part of LI for OOT guests to visit.
We are having our wedding there and our wedding will have about 105 guests.

Definitely check out the Riviera in Massapequa. It is gorgeous, elegant, great view of the bay. THe outdoor cocktail hour area is so beautiful. It is set back, it isn't off a major road, the surrounding neighbord is so nice. Also, the bridal room is really nice. I think you will be really impressed by the Riviera.

We are now going to look at Danfords and possibly the old field club if someone gets back to us by Weds. For the person who said she was having a wedding at Danfords w/105 guests was that for a Sat night?
I have only heard great things about the Riviera. Any pics?
