DH and I went the day before we left for our cruise. I was hoping that we'd get something accomplished that day, but all they did was explain what the whole process was about. She told me about the HSG, hormone levels testing and sperm testing, an internal exam, and then combining clomid, FSH, and the IUI to try to make the chance of getting PG more likely.
They gave me a list of the days that I'm supposed to have these things done, but unfortunately my cycle started right in the middle of our vacation (thanks AF! ) I tried to schedule the HSG for this week, but they were already booked up! So that means we can't do anything (except blood work) until next month
This whole 'clinical' process of getting PG does not sit well with me, and DH isn't crazy about it either. But it should definately work, so I'm trying to be positive about all of this. It's just that it would've been nice to have it work the old fashioned way....

Re: Went on my first visit to the specialist
I got PG when I was supposed to schedule my HSG, so you never kn0w -- it may work out for you in the end. Part of it may just be stress and once you feel like you are taking charge, your body may just surprise you and take over.
Best of luck to you and lots of

Re: Went on my first visit to the specialist
Oh Ann I just saw your review on NWR of your cruise, then hopped over here to see if you had any updates re:TTC. Now see your post about the specialist
I know how you feel, trust me on that one! I had to start seeing a RE last winter due to some other issues relating to my gynelogical health & TTC - and even though we're being told to 'try on our own' for the past bunch of months, its highly likely that I'll need to go back for all the testing you just described
I know there isn't any way to make you feel better about it, but just know that so many of us are in the same boat as you are and you aren't alone .. Hang in there!

Re: Went on my first visit to the specialist
I got pregnant the month I had my HSG test. I was also doing IUI (and we also BD that night of the IUI so we don't know if it was the IUI or the BD that got me pregnant)
It was upsetting to have to rely on science for me to get pregnant but I realized it might be impossible for me to do it on my own so if science had to intervene that was the way it had to be for me to have a baby.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Went on my first visit to the specialist
Anniegirl, I felt the same exact way after my first RE visit...then I found another RE ...lol....I was overwhelmed by the list of things I would have to do before 'they' would do anything. Hell they even wanted me to take injectable classes.....I was like huh ? what if i never need to do that .....sooooo
I found another RE , who gave me a vaginal ultrasound on my first visit, I wasn't prepared, because I thought she would just talk . After, the ultrasound, I felt so happy....just happy that someone said things look 'good'
I just had my hsg done this month, i am hoping it brought me luck as well....the hsg ,,,increases conception chance....because of the dye they insert. It's oil based and helps the tubes out ......also.....sometimes there is a slight mucus build up and it clears them......so as intimidating the hsg sounds....it's something that I was finally eager to do.
When you detect your LH surge, go for the progesterone test.......(8 days past surge)...that will make you feel at ease too. That will confirm ovulation .....and if it's a bit low, the suppositories may be just what you need....to sustain a healthy pregnancy :)
Lots of babydust to you :)

She told us we had to take an injectable class too! My obgyn recommended this office, and they do sound good, but it's just so much crap to have to go through.
Good luck to you though!!!

We're already back from the cruise. We went to the Eastern Caribbean. There were a number of people on our cruise who went on an Alaskan cruise and said they LOVED it and would definately do Alaska again. You'll have a great time!

Re: Went on my first visit to the specialist
My mom went on clomid 30 years ago, after doctors told her that she would never get pregnant. She got pregnant with my sister and thought it would never happen again. Well 3 months after my sister was born, she got pregnant with my brother! (they're a year and a week a part) So for being told that she would never have kids, she had 4 healthy pregnancies. There is hope for everbody! Baby Dust !!!

in the eman time, DH can get checked out. That was the first thing they did before testing me.
