Went to a wedding at The Thatched Cottage...
A little review for you guys: The place- very pretty, the outside was great for the ceremony & the cocktail hour. But a warning.. the wedding was held in the room downstairs. They had about 175 guests. All the friends sat in the small area off to the side, no problem if the DJ remembers you are there, just remind the DJ that these people should be clued in on what is happening, we were left out of a lot of things (i.e. the bouquet & garter) I think because we were so far away from everyone. The service- The staff had frozen drinks waiting for the guests as soon as the ceremony was over, a VERY nice touch!! And the waiter at our table kept bringing us our drinks all night, we never had to ask & he always brought the right thing!! The food- very tasty salmon, but I didn`t hear too many compliments on the chicken or beef. The cocktail hour was good, I recommend the Crepe station, they make them right in front of you. That`s all I can think of for now, but feel free to ask questions!! Val

Thatched Cottage
We also enjoyed the wedding we recently attended at the TC. The frozen drinks after the ceremony were a very nice touch (esp. since it was HOT out when we were there)!! I've heard that their prices are very, very reasonable-for the wonderful reception they put on. Loved the cold seafood bar. I'd have booked 'em, but my best friend was married there a few months ago-and we have many friends and co-workers in common. I'd recommend the Thatched Cottage whole heartedly!!

Just be careful with the chairs....Thatched Cottage
My sister-in-law got married February 2001 at the Thatched Cottage. They had a total of 4 chairs break with people sitting in them. It wasn't just large people either. One guest was an older woman, who was so embarrassed that she left very early. Other than that it was a nice wedding.

I grew up near the Thatched Cottage and the only thing that turned me off was when I drove up the Valet had a dirty T-shirt on and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. When I asked the manager about it - she said there isn't anybody else who does valet service on LI and he would do our wedding. She also had us walk right in front of the bride as she was coming down the staris (I felt horrible) When I got my car the windows were down and it still smelled like smoke!

I think she meant they were the only private company that you can hire without having to hire valets on your payroll. Its a pretty precarious intersection there - they may not want the liability. Its a lovely place, but my experience was not great.Welcome New Vendors
