Went to a wedding at Westbury Manor

It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time.

the ceremony was outside and beautiful...
cocktail hour was also outside...they had a martini bar, which was different and fun...they poured the liquor down an ice sculpture to cool it off...although I was busy chatting...the food was plentiful, but not a lot of choices...and I only saw 2 passed trays.

we were inside the garden room and it was beautiful, expecially with the lounge next to it, where MANY people went to smoke (sometimes leaving the room a bit empty), but I think it was because there were too many people in the room...about 150...We got bumped once or twice on the dance floor...

the service was fine...I noticed nothing wrong, but again I was busy talking and whatnot. I asked everyone at the table about their meals and all said it was great...salmon, chicken, filet and the eggplant...all great...

I wasn't paying attention too much (I know I should have b/c my wedding is in 3 weeks), but if you have any questions ask away.

BTW...Everyone told FH and me how great we looked dancing, so I guess the dancing lessons paid off (FH couldn't dance at all before...and was embarrassed...now I can't get him off the dancefloor!!)

I don't know how the brides feel about this...but I bumped into 3 other brides over the night. And of course one looked really nervous and FH said after she passed 'She doesn't look happy' and laughed...I just hope she didn't hear him...

Re: Went to a wedding at Westbury Manor

Yabobay~ thanks for sharing! I am getting married there in Oct. I have eaten there for dinner and love the food. I think my FH and I are having more than 2 trays passed at coctail hour, actually I do know we are having more.

I'm glad you liked it. The one thing that is bothering me though is that you said you saw 3 other brides there that day. When we booked the place they told us that there is a max. of 2 events going on in a day and that since we booked the large room (the manor room which holds to 300 ppl) that the other room probably wouldn't have a wedding going on since it was small. Did I get taken?

What did you think of the bathrooms? This does bother me a bit since they smelled like smoke and I don't like the cigarette machiene next to them. I am not a smoker, but don't mind if my guests smoke. I just don't like seeing this machiene in an elegant place. It seems like it should belong in a bar. Were you bothered by it also? I might be being picky.

Thanks for the input!

My sister had her wedding there a few years ago - it was a small party so we were in an upstairs room, but when we were leaving, another party was arriving, and it was a little chaotic outside. Maybe you can try and coordinate the times so that you're not leaving when another group is coming in.....

Oh, and there was 1 other wedding going on, and another type of business party in the next room, so 3 functions at once.

BTW - I didn't notice the cigarette machine (that would bother me too!) but I was really distracted the whole day.

I don't like the bathrooms or the cigarette machine either. They told me there would be one other wedding taking place--but probably around 5-6 the day weddings are probably finishing up and the evening weddings are starting their cocktail hours. I talked with someone from a florist who got married there and she said that she personally never saw another bride.

Re: bathrooms
I actually LOVED the fact that there was a sink in each stall..with a personal area for you to get ready...

as for the cigarette machines...FH's friends are smokers so they thought it was great...I honestly did not see it until it was pointed out to me...

there was one other party during the day...and I saw the bride from that wedding...

then when we were leaving...we saw the 2 brides from the evening weddings coming in.
