Went to christmas party last night at Hamlet Wind Watch...

Sorry ladies but it was a christmas party for 500 people not a wedding so Im sure things would be done differently. I had a great time and the service was great, managment was a bit unorganized but friendly. When we got there, there was another party starting like 30min. after us down the hall so coat check was abit confusing. It also wasn't clear on where the party was we had to find people from the company to find out. The cocktail hour didn't have enough food or stations and it was in the hallway not in a room so you could imagine what it was like with 3 stations(2hot and 1cold)for 500 people in a hallway. We managed to get to one of the two bars only to be told half the things I asked for they didn't have like southern comfort and oj or cosmos. The food we managed to get wasn't the worst I've had but it was very dried out. When the room opened up at 8:00pm it was decorated very nice with christmas trees and balloons. The centerpieces was pretty-small bowl of red roses with votives around it on top of a mirror with red and white balloons hanging above it. Our waiter was very on top of everything except drinks. You had to go to the bar. The dance floor was too small for everyone(not 500 people got up to dance). The band they had was great really worked the crowd(although Frank Sinatra was not for them). Dinner--well dinner wasn't all that great. Three choices:Sea Bass, Filet Migon, and Chicken Florentine. No one at my table had the fish but FH had the Filet and I had the chicken both not very good. Mine had a freezer burn taste to it and the Filet was very dry(over cooked) we both had soup for mashed potatoes and the vegetables were still frozen. FH thinks maybe it was because they had so many people to cook for. Dessert was a Vienesse Table and Cordial bar again set up in the hall and foyer between the rooms. Looked beautiful! Not as much of a selection as I thought there would be but the dessert was very good. The waiter working the cordial bar was alittle inexperienced but everyone has to start somewhere. I asked for an amaretto coffee and he didn't know what amaretto was so I showed him and he poured it into a glass and gave it to me without coffee when I asked for it with coffee he gave me a coffee cup so finally we got on the same page and he put it in my coffee. The tables didn't stay out to long and being that they were in the hall they were in the way! It was nice for a corporate affair. I took plenty of pics for those that are getting married there: were the band goes the dance floor the chandeliers etc. I'll have them developed tommorow and post them as soon as I can. Sorry it couldn't be a better review.

Which Hamlet Wind Watch? It sounds like the one in Commack. Alot of the girls on here are getting married at the one in Hauppauge, and there is only one room there.

No it was the one in Haupauge(sorry about the spelling). It was the Hyatt Hamlet Wind Watch on Motor Pkwy.
There was more than one room, we were in the Grand Ballroom. Which I believe was two rooms they opened into one because there were so many people there. There was another party going on with ours down the hall in a smaller room just past the staircase. The bar upstairs in the lobby over looked that room. Like I said too it was a christmas party so hopefully they would take a little more prep time to do a wedding. When I get the pics back today I'll post them so you can see the room and tell me if it's the same, but it's address is Haupauge.

Oh so your talking about the hotel the Hyatt Regency Windwatch, not the country club Hamlet Windwatch..ok got me scared for a minute. Thanks for the detailed review

I was so worried too. I thought it was the hamlet you were talking about. But I think you are referring to the Hyatt, which has no affiliation to the hamlet. I was going to say there is no way the hamlet can accomodate 500 people.

I'm getting married at the Hyatt.... I DO know that my cocktail hour will happen in the restaurant (where you said that other party was) so I won't have to worry about that. My reception will be in the grand ballroom, but I'm only having about 200 people at my wedding, so the ballroom won't be completely open - I wonder if that means there might be another wedding next door....

You can always call and ask. Voice your concerns and see if they will accomodate you. I would think they would pay more attention to a more intimate affair such as your wedding. Keep in mind this party had over 500 to take care of.

Right, Im sure with less people they would be able to pay more attention. I just hope the christmas party next year is in a more # wise accomodating place. I didn't get a chance to pick up the pics but I will tommorow and post some. The invite actually says The Hyatt Regency Wind Watch at the Hamlet but when you pull up it says the Wind Watch Golf and Country Club so maybe they are close to each other?

hey ladies i live at the hamlet windwatch...the hyatt just bought the hotel and it's really nice; the hamlet windwatch golf and country club is the club house which is small but there are weddings there and at the hotel, but everything is run by different people. i am not getting married there but are taking pictures here! :) they are literally ten or 20 feet apart.

I saw the little clubhouse off to the side. What does it look like inside and how many people does it hold?

I just went to a christmas party at the Windwatch in Hauppauge in the country club part and it was very nice! THe service was good, the servers were friendly, the food was very tasty! and the view was nice as well! I have been to several affairs in the hotel and never had an issue either.

However I have never been to one with 500 people!

Good luck to all those getting married there!

The clubhouse to the side is the hamlet country club. I think it holds a maximum of 200, but Im only having about 125.

Well I think that is what the problem was, the 500+ people. I guess the room they usually hold the cocktail hour in either couldn't hold 500(which it would've been nice if the food was in the room and the tables were in the hall)or because there was a party already booked in there. The cocktail hour I would have to say was the worst part of the party. 500 people and only 3 small stations of food. I couldn't imagine having to cook for 500 people either but even though I understand, I hope the christmas party is better handled next year were ever it is. Im sure a wedding would be nice there. Good luck to everyone!!

You seem to be confusing the hotel with the country club. They are two separate facilities run by two different people.

There is no way the country club held a party for 500+ - besides it being physically impossible, their limit is something like 210.

The hotel, on the other hand, can accommodate a party of that size.

Re: Went to christmas party last night at Hamlet Wind Watch...

Im sorry, Im still confused. Was the party in the large hotel or was it in the small country club on the left hand side? In your description you mentioned a bar upstairs in the lobby overlooking another room, but the clubhouse is only one floor. I dont want to call my Banquet Manager to discuss these problems if its not the same place. Thanks so much!!

Re: Went to christmas party last night at Hamlet Wind Watch...

Sorry your confused. No the party was in the hotel in the Grand Ballroom, my question was about the clubhouse. In my post I asked how many people it held because I saw the clubhouse when we pulled in.
