Went to DJ but was a little disappointed....please give advice

Original post by anglbyme

I have a package that includes a DJ for the cocktail hour and reception, BUT it dioes not include an MC. I have been told that if the DJ is any good they can do both. When I met with DJ he basically told me that the DJ is the DJ and that is what he specializes in. If I want announcements made andthings like that I would be asking a lot of him because that is not his area of expertise???? Are they just trying to get me to spend the extra $500 for an MC or what????

you have FM!

I have a great DJ, who is WONDERFUL and VERY reasonable. (Then 'til Now)... and he's NOT a nickel and dimer! One of the FEW wedding vendors on this EARTH who is NOT!

In most places I shopped at, the packages came with a DJ and an MC and they weren't too expensive (ranging from $1,200-1,700). It's my opinion based on personal experience that you do need the two separate individuals b/c it's hard to have one doing announcements, entertaining and motivating the crowd if he's behind the DJ booth. But that's what I think. My DJ is very reasonably priced...VJ Entertainment...check him out.

We used Frank from FM Entertainment, he is a vendor on this site. He was the DJ and he made all of our announcements and did an awesome job. We did not hire a separate MC.

I too am using Frank from FM Entertainment, we are just having him and think it will be great, there was an option for a second person but he said that is only really necessary if you have a TON of people, but he can handle my reception on his own.
