Went to the Derm yesterday and here is info

Ok I know alot of girls on here were saying theyhave the same problem as me with breaking out lately and wanted info.

I went yesterday and got the cortisone shots. They really didn't hurt at all, which is great lol. Its the next day now and all the pimples went down ...i still have some marks though from previous ones i had popped but its barely noticeable and make up will cover these up easily lol. He also gave me a topical cream called 'DUAC' i used it last night before bed and it really helped with the ones that left marks.

He also said something very interesting...he asked if i moisturize and i said yes sometimes and he asked why, which confused me lol...he said for some reason everyone thinks they should moisturize but ppl really shouldn't...he said our face produces its own oils, and putting on moisturizer is like putting oil on top of oil.

interesting.. I thought it was advisable to use moisturizer with SPF daily. That could explain alot

lol i know its confusing but it does make sense lol. Honestly though i dont really moisturize often, once in a while i will.

Glad it went well!! Question though, I use moisturizer daily, but it's oil-free, non-comedogenic and doesn't clog pores. Wouldnt' that be ok? My skin is just so tight after I wash it in the shower and get out and dry it off. I feel like it will snap if I don't moisturize...

my friends mother has the nicest skin no wrinkles and I asked her what she uses and she told me that she never uses soap on her face. Just plain water.. Im sure its in the genes too

hmmm interesting, yeah i remember i watched this show oprah did with women you would never believe their age, seriously it was crazy...one lady was 65 and you wouldve thought she was in her 30's, she was dating a guy in his 30's and he never knew how old she was then she finally told him, and many more women like this...WELL most of them did simple things, things like you described, BUT one thing they all did was stay out of the sun, i took that advice and seriously stayed out of the sun for years. This year ive been tanning and stuff but i figured i stayed away for a long time and i wont always do this, later on ill continue to stay out of the sun lol...They say the sun ages you the most.

yeah i think the non-comedogenic moisturizers are ok.

Thanks for the info!!! I unfortunately have combination skin, so I need to moisturize some places and not in others! I really need to get my a$$ to the derm though! lol

Thanks for all the good info. I never use to use moistureizer. I never use to wash my face before bed and my skin was fine ( I know that's gross) Ov er the last few years I always wash my face and moisturize and my skin I feel is terrible. HMMMM One thing my dermo. did say was if I wash my face at night only use water in the morning. Do not use another face wash.

my mom is going to be 60 and she only has wrinkles under her chin and she swears its bc she used Oil of Olay every single day since she was a pre teen no matter what. BUT she never used to put it under her chin ( i put lotion on and keep going down my whole neck) so that is why we think it works

she also always avoided the sun which must have been hard living in Sicily LOL

I loved duac when I was on it. It really helped my skin a lot and did not irritate at all, and I have really sensitive skin! I hope it works as well for you!

Defintely! It's not good to wash off too much of the oil that our pores give off....for some, that's moisturizing enough.

Did the cortizone shot get rid of the bug bite?

That is weird about the moisturizer because when I went to the derm years ago, they told me to use moist. and ever since , my skin had been good. they said that I would break out if there wasnt enough moisturizer. So now I use noxema, and exfoliant, toner and moisturizer and I'm good. They did say non- comedogenic and of course everyones skin is different.

I had the SAME problem and my derm gave me Duac.. it is a MIRACLE cream!!!


BUT........ Be careful with it bc it will make your skin SOOOOOOOOOO DRY!!!!

I NEVER moisturize....I would be an oil slick and I do breakout if I use it even once. That's what I always thought but everyone always told me otherwise that I'm supposed to...good thing I never listen
