I went to VIP today - now I was an hour an a half late (flat tire and then ontop of that the LIE was STOPPED! i mean dead stoped because of an accident in the construction zone)
Now I called at 12:30 - got the machine - to let him know I had a flat to see if getting there a half hour late would be ok (my appt was at 1pm and I'm an hour away in queens) Now once I realized there was sick traffic (around 12:45) I called back - got the machine again - and told him I was going to be very late and if there was a problem to call me so I wouldn't treck out there unecessarily.
Well at about 2:30 we got there, he wasn't there not had he told whoever was at the office to expect anyone. It took 10 minutes to get through to him and he said 'I left because she didn't show up' He told him to show me the albums and after 10 minutes of looking I left since nothing could be discussed.
Now I really like his work but he didn't call me back AT ALL today. That kind of turns me off. Am I being too hasty? I thought he would have at least checked his messages or get back to me sometime today.
Update: He called and apoligized that he didn't get the messages in time - he actually got them once me and my sister left! something was up with the machine or something. So all if fair again

I'd be totally turned off too!
I had a vendor on here not call me back & it ****ed me off really bad, just because of that, I didn't use him, nor did I want to give my money to someone like this & I didn't!!! And he is a popular vendor too!

You have every right to be upset. Obviously he did not check his machine, which any good business person would have done if their appointment was late. You started calling a half hour before your appointment, so it is not like you waited until you were already late to call. If he had called you back and told you he had to leave, than you could have turned around. Instead, he wasted your time. Sitting in traffic unnecessarily is no fun

I would be really upset to. I booked VIP for my wedding. He is hard to get a hold of which is very fustrating (sp?) to me. The only thing that stops me from calling up and yelling at him is the fact that he does good work. He booked every weekend.

That stinks, I travel from Queens too, and its a trip. When we picked up our proofs we were Very Late too, but there was no problem,
if you are still interested, when he calls ask to meet him someone else, he does have a office in massepequa now, I never been there though. I told him when I pick up my TY's I would like to meet somewhere closer.
I get his machine alot too, but he always seems to call me back.
I would tell you to trust your own judgement, and also your price range and quality.

I had the same experience when I went to him. He showed up 25 minutes after our scheduled appointment...rushed us through all the albums and told us stories on how certain brides annoy him and complaining how he had to meet a client at the train station once and how inconviencing it was to him. Turned us off completed. : ( Although he does take good pictures I didn't want to be one of the brides he was complaining about after my wedding.

I didn't seem to have problems getting a hold of him when we were looking into photography. But this was in the winter of last year which was dead time for him. I also asked him that in the future we would like to make appts in the Massapequa office as it is more convenient. I haven't tried calling him recently. Sorry this happened to you.

ok now I am now I am a little upset b/c I really put a lot of thought into who I was hiring to take my pics. And I have seen pics from other VIP brides and i really like his work.

Irishbride you should call him and tell him your concerns. I always give a vendor a couple of days to return a phone call. If you have called repeatedly and no reply than that isn't right. I would say something if I were you.

Irishbride I wouldn't be upset...everyone has different experiences with all the vendors and if you think that VIP fits what you want go for it. He takes beautiful pictures. A few people have had negative responses to my photographer as well but I think they will be perfect for me and their experience didn't hinder me hiring them at all. As long as the good outwieghs the bad then it should all be fine : ).

The lack of professionalism (he doesn't even check his messages? Or try to call you to see where you are??) means that he's not someone you want to work with. Others do nice work too. I'd go elsewhere. Mary

I have never heard a story like that about VIP. I even tell people to go there when their budget fits his packages. If I were treated like that I would send him an e-mail/letter and tell him how upset I was over the way he treated me and not use him. I think that was very unfair.

ha!! he was probably complaining about ME!
we had him meet us in a parking lot of a restaurant to sign the contract. we had already driven out to him once & were not about to drive over an hour again just to sign the contract & give him our deposit (cash).
