Went to wedding at NRC Friday..Review
Let me start by saying the place is beautiful!!
The ceremony was held in the room in the basement and it was decorated very beautifully. It was a nice ceremony.
The cocktail room is so large and has lots of tables (which is always a bonus). We looked here for our wedding and we were concerned about the bar being in the little room (outside cocktail room) but they set up a type of makeshift bar in the corner of the room so there was no problem with finding drinks.
The cocktail hour had lots of good food and SO much passing food (a lot of it was fried though). There was ALWAYS someone walking around with a tray.
We ate...chicken franchese wihich was very good, chicken shish-kabob (chicken was a little dry) overall good, calamari was Ok but a bit chewey (but I think this happens often b/c it sits there for a while), pasta - rigatoni with red clam sauce was really good but the rig. ala vodka was NOT good. It didn't twaste at all like ala vodka. They also had tacos, eggplant, hawaiian chicken, carvings, and a large cold display (but we didn't hae any of that). Overall cocktail hour was very nice.
The Reception: I have to say the service there is AMAZING!!!!!!!! The napkins were constanly folded, the waitress constantly asked us if we needed anythng. If our drink was running out it would be filled...GREAT!!
First course was tomatoe and mozz over greens. I only like the mozz so that's what I ate (as a bread sandwich
). This was served to us (not out on table when we first walked in). Next was dinner (I heard people saying they were confused that there was only a combo app&salad but then nothing else between before dinner). For dinner FH and I had the Filet, which was pretty good. Some bites were better than others (FH said the same). My roommate had the Seabass which I thought was very good. No one at our table had the chicken so I don't know how it was. The potatoes were also very good (salty and I like that). The dessert was cookies and pastries on a tray and wedding cake. I don't really like bakery cakes so I can't really comment on it.
I must say, we looked at the NRC during the day and the grounds are beautiful. The problem is if you are having a night wedding be aware that the beauty is TOTALLY LOST. The cocktail room has lots of windows but you can't see ANY of it at night so don't book at night if you are looking for the beauty of the grounds.
One other thing to beware of..my roommate was in the BP and got there at 2pm (ceremony was at 6:30) She said they offered them NO food (until she asked and they gave them fruit)
DJ...BIG HITS ENTERTAINMENT For anyone who is having them, we liked them and the dancefloor was PACKED the whole night (at times people were dancing so far to the corners of the dancefloor they were on the rug).
Overall, if you are having your wedding there you will NOT be disappointed!! The food was good and the service was AMAZING!!!!!
