We closed yesterday & the first thing I did when I got into the house, was clean one of the bathrooms! That is number 1 priority in my book! Then I moved onto cleaning to refrigerator...I am heading back over there in about an hour to continue the cleaning process

Stock up on cleaning supplies because that was all we did for the first few days, from scrubbing the cabinets and fixtures to cleaning all the floors and steaming the carpets I was shocked how much cleaning there is to do when you move!!!

we have been cleaning non stop... the last owners were smokers... so even the walls are gross...

Buy many cleaning products including the Magic Eraser

A few mop heads - you'll go through them pretty fast when you clean the floor then want to clean it again and again and again...

We went to Aboffs a gazillion times for roller-brush covers and those little B. Moore paint samples really helped us choose colors.

the best thing I got was one of those steam cleaners you always see on HSN, I ordered it from ebay. it takes the smeall and bacteri out of eveything

Clean, clean, and then clean some more! My mom and I cleaned the bathroom at least 4 times before FI & I moved in. And changed the toilet seat. We cleaned the kitchen a couple of times and scrubbed the floor multiple times. Buy bleach. We also used scrubbin bubbles, lots of bleach, lysol floor cleaner, lysol kitchen cleaner, buy those sponges with the scrubby part on one side, buy a scrub brush. We have hardwood floors so we cleaned them multiple times with Murphy's oil and Lysol floor cleaner (they were covered up with a rug & in surprisingly good condition but very dirty).

I had a cleaning service come in a clean everything. Then we painted and moved in.

I second that! Also, not sure if it's in your budget, but we pulled up all the carpeting. I couldn't stand the thought of all their crud under my feet.
