Re: We're considering another dog...need suggestions
I love boxers...I hear they are great family dogs, but I also heard they can be hyper/rambunctious/puppy like for a few years.....
I'd like a dog that doesn't need to be constantly entertained as an adult...one that knows how to go lie down (my rottie HAS to cuddle on the coach, in the bed, playing all the time...)

I heard that Greyhounds are actually quite mushy dogs. Their favorite thing to do is just lay on the bed/couch and rest. Plus if you want to do rescue, there are TONS of ex-racing greyhounds that need homes.

I was just going to suggest a greyhound rescue. Supposedly they are wonderful dogs. I spoke to someone who did greyhound rescue and he had nothing but great things to say about them. He said they are already crate trained, but need to be house trained, which usually isn't too hard. I have a feeling that will be the next dog we get. Although lately I have become obsessed with Italin Greyhounds, because I want a smaller dog.

Greyhounds may be a good choice. There are so many greyhound rescues that are looking to place them. The only problem you may have is getting them to climb stairs(they never saw them before).
Check out petfinders.com. Also, check out your local shelters. You never know what you may find. Hint, bring your rottie with you to make sure they get along.
Good luck!!

This is somewhat true - Bama has little bursts of playfulness/hyperness but he mostly loves to cuddle on the couch. He's a sweetie. But around other dogs - forget it! He goes right into full-on play mode and it's non-stop! So to have a Boxer as a second dog would be quite a handful....... Good luck in your search!
