'we're either going to break up or get engaged'

This is what my best friend is saying about his long time gf!! And he's saying this now that he realizes what we've all seen for years, which is what there's no spark between them. Oh god. I really hope he dones't decide to propose to this girl!

I don't get it either! He said to our firned he realizes there's no spark, and she and I ahve been saying it for YEARS and she told him that, and he said his other firneds said the same thing, and they're going onv acation together soon, and then he'll decide, it'll either be splitsville or the cahpel of love. i don't get it. And I think basing it on a vacation is SO dangerous because you're out fo your everyday element. things could seem great when they aren't really!

that's weird. A friend of mine said about his gf...I love her, but I don't like her. HUH? And they're married now. I think sometimes people just don't want to be alone.

Not only is that unhealthy, but it's obnoxious and dismissive.

That whole attitude of all-or-nothing in relationships is lame. If the line between the two is that fine then, dude, you're not doing anyone any favors by sticking it out. End it and spare everyone the drama.

my friend's fiance broke off the engagement...and in one of their talks about why it happened - he told her the same thing. She'd been pressuring him a bit, and he figured it's either get engaged, or break up - so he bought a ring

I don;t kow if anyone's given anyone an ultimatum, but it just seems like he's unhappy with where things are now, so it's either time to get to the next level (as if that will fix something) or time to go, or maybe just if they're staying together they'll get engaged b/c they've been together so long. I don't really get it! I don't think it's fear of ebing alone either, b/c my friend at east is very independent, and he and his gf hardly ever spend any time together, they're remarkably independent, which has also always struck me as odd. I don't get it. Do you think I should say something to him?
