Were you limited in the # of rooms in hotel block??

Hi ladies, anyone who has blocked hotel rooms for their wedding -- did the hotels tell you that you could only have 10 rooms? I said we will need about 25, can we get more when those 10 are booked? They said probably NOT. We try to limit the # we give to any one wedding.

I asked if the groom's family could also block 10, they said no, b/c it's the same wedding!

We have so many OOT relatives in both families, and really don't want our guests to have to be in different hotels. Anyone have this problem? How did you solve it?

i booked at two hotels -- both blocked 15 rooms (the max.) However, if your block gets sold out, they block out another automatically at the fairfield marriott.

I'm having a similar problem. Except we blocked 35 rooms and they said they can't do anymore...so at least it isn't as bad! Try a different hotel if you can-otherwise ask relatives to book without being in the block.

If you really want your guests to stay at this particular hotel then maybe you should find another hotel who will give you what you want and then go back to your origional hotel and see if they will match it.

We got a block of 20 rooms for each night, and they said if we needed more we just have to ask for them. I've never heard of a hotel saying that they wouldn't let you block off more.

We were able to block a lot more than that no problem. We just have to guarantee that 3/4 of them get filled and if not, then we're responsible for them financially.

Hummm....I didn't run into that. My hotel said that I could only block 10 at a time and when the block started to fill up we could block 10 more at that point. Maybe look for a bigger hotel?

We thought of getting a second block under another name, but my daughter feels it would be tacky if we have to list it that way and they can't say they're part of the wedding (the first block has both families' names on it). So if I can't get them to give in, I may try to get a second block in another name and use those rooms for our family, BP, etc.

And in fact, they are only discounting the rooms $3 off the going internet rate! Unfortunately we really like the hotel and wanted everyone to stay together and meet for breakfast the next AM.

We'll call again on Monday and try to negotiate! Thanks.

we were only allowed to do 10 at a time. but we can add as necessary. so, every month i call in to check the status of the block. plus, in the std and invite (accomodations card) we asked that if anyone found the block was no longer available to let us know.
