That said if they don't get married by a certain age, you would flip?
I personally was never the one to say it and always had the attitude of 'When it happens, it happens'. Now that I am getting married and most of my friends are still single, I wonder how I would feel being in their shoes and seeing your friends around you getting married. Just a thought because I know some of us feel that your friends are not 'Into the Wedding'

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
Most.. and I mean 98%.. of my friends got married before me. Several were divorced before me too.
It really never bugged me. Not even a little big. In my 20's - when the first big surge of friend getting married happened - I kept thinking that I was WAY too young to be married. I remember a lot of my friends getting married right out of college. It never occurred to me that I might want to be married too!
Then I had Robbie... just as another group of friends started the whole marriage thing. And I was so caught up in being a mom and all of that good stuff... again marriage was not a consideration!

I don't think I was like that. LOL The only thing I did tell FH was that if his Best Friend got engaged before us, that he better just leave. LOL

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
I always said I wanted to be married before 30, but I was also 23 and in a totally different relationship. Now being 29 and getting married before 30, I laugh at what I used to say! I do feel bad for my g-friends that are single or in a crappy relationship that is going nowhere. Their time will come, eventually.

Same here. I was always the one to have a bf tho, within my group of friends, so everyone knew I would get married first lol...I never really worried about it...but yes if I was now in my friends situation I would be freakin gout

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
The funny thing is I was TOTALLY that type and actually broke off a 5 year relationship when I was 29 bc I thought he would never 'pop the question.' I for some reason felt I HAD to get married by 30 which is STUPID!! Well of course I am glad that relationship didn't result in marriage-trust me I would be divorced by now if it did.
When I turned 30 I actually didn't care or even think about it. I'm getting married at 33 and am soooo glad I waited.
Most of my friends are engaged or married now.

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
Funny you mention this because I did think I would be married at a certain age, but that's why you should never plan. Anyways, i have a girl friend now who is 26 not in a relationship and is so miserable. I posted about this before debating on wheather to put her in my bridal party.
Needless to say she is so bitter, never ever askes about wedding plans or dresses, nothing wedding related. I feel horrible because I was in her shoes and have been through breakup after breakup. i tried to still go out for 'girls night' or dinner once a week and everytime it's the same somber story that 'she's never going to get married' etc. After a little while it gets annoying that your friend can't be happy for you. So, i decided not to put her in the BP and I feel bad but she is obviously not happy and makes no effort to try and be apart of the wedding. She still doesn't know I got my dress and has yet to ask. I feel so bad still. . .it hurts that she's like this and that I can put her in BP. Sorry so long
Sorry so long. . .

I was..
See.. I was in a long relation ship when I was young and after we broke up ( I was just turning 23) I wasn't in a serious relationship until this one.. I dated and had quasi boyfriends, but it was never anything substantial..
and honestly, I am approching 30 and if I was still single.. I wouldnt be hitting 30 gracefully!!!

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
For some reason I was sure I would be well beyond 30 when I finally got married...now I will be married when I'm 27 and it feels great but if anything I would say I still feel young...and I've met so many fabulous single women in their 30s that are happy and not anxious about being single it at all...I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's no way of knowing but I really think that if I were 30 and not engaged I would be fine with it too (though very happy to be marrying FH!)

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
There are some people who have their lives mapped out. They want to finish college at this age, get married at this age and have kids at this age. That is fine whatever works for you. Then there are some who say when it happens it happens. For me I'm more of a when it happens it happens girl. Though I do notice that sometimes when getting married or having children among females its a dominoe effect. Once one of you gets married or has kids it's contagious.

I think women only think this way when they hit 30 and are single because they know time is ticking if they want children. It seems more rampant that women are having their children in the mid-20's and early 30's than waiting much later-

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
Honestly, I wanted to be married by the age of 30. But gods circumstances has put that off, due to the birth of our son Blake. Things happen for a reason, and I totally believe in that. I wouldn't say that I had anything mapped out, because I didn't meet my prince charming yet. But I will tell you this, I hadda kiss ALOT of frogs before I found my pince. And low and behold, 8 months away and BAM!!! I'll be married

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
I actually used to say I was never going to get married. I was with someone for 3 years before I was with FH, and I was content with staying with him but never getting married. We grew apart and broke up, and now that I'm with FH I can't wait to marry him. I'll be 28 when I get married.
I still have the attitude that if I didn't get together with FH I'd still be happy even being single because I'm surrounded by great family and friends, and I have a lot of hobbies ... but who knows what I would be like at 40. I could be unbelievably happy, or I could be a bitter old hag

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
I'm the last of the girls I went to high school with that are getting married, but the rest of my g/f are still single. I don't remember whether or not I would've flipped if I didn't get married before a certain age but I knew that I wanted to before I turned 30.

Re: WERE YOU THE TYPE........
I'm the first of all of my close friends to get married. It's weird because we used to hear about other weddings of people we knew in high school or from the neighborhood and wonder when it would be one of our turns. I think I always pictured myself getting married by a certain age, maybe because I want to have a few years with my FH before becoming a mother.
