Hoping you ladies can help me. My husband and I are very interested in a home (beautiful high ranch) in this area (Belmont Estates). I am from the Stony Brook area and hubby from Nassau so we don't know anything about West Bab. We've gotten feedback from the local police station, driven around the neighborhood at all different times and spoken to a neighbor. The feedback about the W. Bab in general has not been bad but not stellar either. This will be our first home and we anticipate spending between 7 and 10 years before relocating.
Can anyone offer any feedback PLEASE??? Thanks

if you are looking at a house in West babylon, you will not be in North Babylon school district.

The sellers three children all attended and graduated from North Bab School District. In addition the neighbors have confirmed that that is the district that their children attend.

but the houses are in West Babylon?
I grew up in North Babylon and the only people that we went to school with are kids that lived in North Babylon.
that is why i said what I did.

Strange.......
I don't think the sellers, their realtor or neighbors would have any reason to mislead us.
My understanding is that the Belmont Estates area is on the border so perhaps that could be the reason for it.

well I think that North Babylon school district is a little better than West Babylon but they both are about the same!!

I live in North Babylon, but I intend on moving within a few years...I heard that NB elementary schools are great, but the high school isn't..although they are the football champions I heard...

Thanks for your feedback. Aside from the schools, how is the community do you know? I know there are good and not as good sections of many towns but any sense overall?

N Babylon has a much bigger 'gang' problem than W Babylon. i think the elementary and middle schools in N Babylon are fine, but i would personally think twice before sending my kids to N Babylon HS.

I was going to post pretty much the same thing. I grew up in West Babylon and I think it's a great community. There's nothing wrong with North Babylon and I'll admit that I'm biased because I can't afford, at least right now, to live where I grew up.
My girlfriend lived on the border over by Belmont Ave and I always thought the town was fine.
This house isn't on Chelsea by any chance, is it? Our friends are selling there.

I grew up in N Babylon and graduated from NB many many years ago so I cant comment on the schools today. Where is Belmont Estates? Is it off 231 towards the South end?

Thank you all for the helpful and honest opinions.
Belmont Estates is the little tucked neighborhood just off Belmont Ave, exit 37...across from the Belmont Park. (Not Chelsea, sorry.)
The neighborhood seems nice and as for the school district...we don't have kids yet so I guess as long as the elementary schools are fairly good we'll be okay.
Fingers crossed...I guess we have to start somewhere.

Uor very dear friends live in W. Babylon. They are in N. Babylon SD, nd their oldest is starting school this coming September. She is in Education & is confident in the school system. The neigborhood just went through a revitilasation (sp?) and is doign rather well. Now is actually a good time to buy there, since they are expecting the property value to rise during the next few years.

WB class of 88 here.. my close friends had a home in WB but the school was NB. She moved before her children started school.
