well I got the major vendors down (rh, photo/video/limo/dj)
I got my dress and my last bridesmaid should have ordered hers today.
I still need to book a honeymoon (although I have no money)
I need invites/programs
makeup artist, and hair person for my girls and mom
The guys are ordering their tuxes within the next two weeks.
I still need shoes for me and my girls plus jewelry and veil. and I have to block hotels!!!

I'm not a big make up person so this is defintely going to be quite the job to find someone. I have my MOH doing my hair but I need someone for her and my other 10 girls plus the flower girl and my mom and their is no way my MOH can do all of that.
For now my other MOH is researching that for me.

Not sure if you're in Brooklyn, but I went to Raheela Beaty Salon on Coney Island Avenue. After you get over the culture shock, you'll be amazed by her work.

Hello Ladies,
Hope all is well. Its amazing how quickly the time flies, we began planning July of 2008 and now we have about 4 months to go - time is going by so quickly. My advice is pace your self and get the Big Items out of the way first. Here is what I did in order:
-Reception Hall/Mandir -Gardens for Pics (OWG summers wknds book quickly) -Photo/Video -Mandap -Wedding Dress (needs to be order 6-8mnths ahead) -Florist -Limo (summer wkend gets booked quickly) Invitations -Make-Up Artist -Mehendi Artist -Honeymoon (Plan locations out of Hurricane Circle during Summer) -Invitations -Reception Night Hotel -Wedding Band -Bridesmaid Dresses (4 months prior)
I also already ordered - toasting flutes, favor boxes, bags, sign in frame, etc.
Things Left to do: Indian Bridal Wear & Jewlery Wedding tiara, shoes & veil (waiting for my dress) flower girl basket, ring pillow Parents Attire misc items * Mainly Keep my Sanity
Hope This Helps! Good Luck and Dont Get Too Stressed that you forget to Enjoy the Whole Experience of your Wedding!

Re: West Indian Brides
Hey, are you ladies incorporating any West Indian traditions into your wedding? Everyone keeps asking me what traditions we have, but I don't really know of anything except the black (rum) cake. My friend is trini also and she's having a mini bride for her bridal party.

Re: West Indian Brides
I am not have anything traditional in particular but I'm having a lot of Westindian influence stuff throughout the wedding like a pan player for the ceremony, black cake, the music, some food and drinks....if you come up with anything else please share

Well my RH is giving me Italian, West Indian, and Indian (FH is Indian) food, so I think that is as cultural as I can afford to get. It is nice to have the steel pan during the ceremony, but I think my friend wanted that for her wedding so I don't want to steal her idea. I probably couldn't afford it anyway.
I would like to do the black cake, but my mother would kill me if I ask her to bake all that cake for 250 guests.
We are definitely having West Indian music at the reception, I made sure our DJ knows his stuff.
I can't think of anything else that could be cultural for a wedding.

Hi ladies hope all is well!! I can't believe how the time has flown! I'm trying to keep my sanity. Its down to the little things which actually seem to be harder to complete than the big stuff We are not doing anything tradtional within our culture, not sure what we would implement. Hope you ladies are enjoying your planning. I don't know what I will do when this is done.
I forgot to add though that I did ensure that my DJ had West Indian Music! Most important part!

Re: West Indian Brides
Hello,
I'm sure this question has been asked many times before. But who is everyone using for makeup? Besides M*I*A. I was thinking about going with an MAC artist but not sure of anyone in particular. Any suggests?
