Hello,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before. But who is everyone using for makeup? Besides M*I*A. I was thinking about going with an MAC artist but not sure of anyone in particular. Any suggests?

I am using a very talented young woman named Priya. I don't usually wear makeup so I let her know that I don't want to look 'made up' but rather an enhanced version of myself and she did just that. She's awesome. Her number is (347) 933-1640.

ETA: Priya's contact information!

I've noticed many of you ladies are looking for a good hair person. The woman who does my hair is excellent. She owns her own shop in baldwin.

Lets talk about any island traditions you are haivng for your wedding.....

I am Panamian and my FH is Haitian. We are having cupcakes made out of black cake with our monongram on top of the icing as 1 of the favors for our guests. We are also being introduced in the reception to calypso music.

The only island thing at my wedding is the music the dj will be playing. I don't know what else to do. I'm debating about the black cake, but I'm not sure if my non-West Indian guests will eat it. =(

I'm Trini and FH is Indian, we're having more Indian traditions in the wedding.

I am having West Indian food at the wedding though. So that will bring a little Caribbean vibe to the reception.

Here are some stuff I'm doing:

-I'm doing black cake at my reception (Day 2)
-indian sweets at the ceremony/reception (Day1)
-May do henna but not sure because I think it clashes with the white wedding dress

Having a west indian DJ for indian, reggae, soca music etc..

Also, we are wearing indian Outfits for Day 1.

Don't think I'm doing anything else in terms of traditional/cultural stuff

FH and I don't really want a black cake but his mom really wants one so we're having the cake, and a guyanese dj (fh and I are guyanese, fh is a dj and our dj is one of his friends)....

I don't want one neither but my family and FH's family wants it. I really want a chocolate cake but I know people are going to be complaing for days and call me selfish so I will just get a plain cake with some type of filling.. The black cake will be my second cake. I will put it in boxes for them to take home.

I'm half Panamanian and Antiguan. My fh is half Vincy and Southern. It's just so mixed up lol. I'm having a pan player for cocktail hour, and caribbean music at the reception. I may have black cake as well.

welcome!

I really wanted steel pan for my poolside cocktail hour but my BM said they wouldnt allow it. But I've heard some conflicting stories from other brides using the same RH so I am going to ask again and hope they say yes.
